People that wanted Britney's song already bought her song since it sold over 10M copies. Like, what are you even on about. The album sold besides that. It sold that well because she was humongous and much bigger than Katy. Katy sold many singles but failed to sell many albums and the only reason why it has higher CSPC is because the units come from two sources - an album and a re-release along with having more markets to draw units from. BOMT's peak sales are missing markets that TD doesn't. You would try to excuse the flawed metric that Chartmasters serves as much as you can but you cannot do it without embarrassing yourself.Britney's BOMT also proves she could sell albums and singles all at once. Katy's TD proves she was a massive single-seller but her album selling much less than her peers is kinda underwhelming. And no, the digital era isn't an excuse as both Gaga's The Fame and Adele's 21 proved you can have huge sales in both areas. Katy failed to.You did suggest this. TD's CSPC has surpassed BOMT so in saying it doesn't prove Katy's peak was bigger you suggest the measurement is inaccurate. Peaks aren't whole discographies and should be studied when looking at one era. That's why it's called a peak. Multiple albums being one peak or one album being one peak is a complicated discussion. Generally though one album is considered a peak (The Bodyguard, Thriller, 21) because it measures how many costumers an artist can reach at once. I do agree Britney's peak is bigger even if TD's units surpass it.I wouldn't expect you to be too objective in a discussion like this considering diminishing some of that site's credibility would diminish your fave's but even then you downright admitted that peaks cannot be properly measured with CSPC so there's that. Britney had a way bigger peak. Katy was a very successful single artist but it didn't translate well over to her fame and popularity as she was miles behind Gaga or Adele while Britney was the biggest female of her time.So you admit that CSPC is not a very accurate way of portraying popularity as a whole? The single was available. What kind of lack of research is this. It was one of the best-selling singles of that year on top of the album being - to this day - the best-selling debut of all time. If it wasn't "anything special" surely it wouldn't have sold millions of copies of both the lead single and the album.The way this just keeps dropping should be studied.Oh here come the Gaga comparisons. We'll get to that later. First, the song is #1 in the US because of physicals and shipments tactically made so it would have a multiple week #1. If it wasn't for her chart manipulations, the song would've already dropped. And it's dropping daily, not seeing any increases whatsoever other than the usual Monday ones. You can try and gaslight us with the "#1 song" arguments but that will just make us drag you longer considering this song looks like something that won't be in the Top 10 in a few days at all, maybe not even Top 50 in a few weeks. As for Gaga, The Dead Dud was a... dud and we shipped it back because it wasn't a strong single. Your fandom likes Patient Zero so its underperformance is not something this excuse can be used for.Taylor stans are the most cocky fandom to ever exist and it's why their downfall will be the most harsh of them all.
