Lady Gaga

This is part 2 of the Lady Gaga discussion.

I see it less as a DWAS continuation and more of a this is Gaga's artistic expression continuing to go through its cycle. Not to say she'll ditch dance pop entirely but I don't see things getting heavier. Also her Carol King album has to come eventually. Throw some RNB pop for the commercial part of the album and we've got something palatable for everyone.

Gaga said after she wrote 'Perfect Celebrity' she wanted to scrap everything she had done and remodel the album after that track until Michael talked her out of it. Maybe now she's gonna follow through on that.

Idk, I feel like given the reception of Abracadabra and the overall "return to form" narrative that dominated Mayhem's campaign, she's probably going to build off the sounds of that album, but in a non-reductive way. She's comfortable with her "sound" and enjoys being Lady Gaga. Make of that what you will.

I had nothing else to add at that moment

"I think when I was in my early twenties, I was this very Method human being where, with every project that I took on, I was always living in it 24/7. And I think some of my age and experience has taken me to this new time in my life where I feel like I can approach it as the creator and the artist and not be lost in it. So when I get on stage for the Mayhem Ball, I am fully in that for the two hours and 40 minutes I'm on stage… But then when it's over, I drop it. And that leaves a lot more space for me to then write something new, because it frees my mind up. So I take care of myself as much as I can on the road, and I'm finding that that's leading to a lot of songwriting, which is the best."

I feel like her making that disconnect between who she is during the show is somewhat telling. Idk, no one her really knows what's coming next. She could very well be planning to make another MAYHEM "return to form" but especially after this interview I get the feeling she's not planning on carrying anything over besides her passion and love for music.

anyway, I say this as a fan, Gaga can be full of it sometimes especially when she's campaigning for award season so does anything really mean anything.

I still remember when Harlequin came out she said Tony probably would not have approved of the album and how she messed up the songs and now that she's trying to get that Grammy it's Tony would've loved it and he loved ARTPOP. She's just out here saying anything.

So Tony was bopping to Sexxx Dreams?

Gaga could easily own her own lane in dark/dance pop. It's kinda painful in a way knowing going heavier than Disease and Abracadabra would basically guarantee acclaim and even a hit, but that it's still up to her if she wants to follow through with it. It's exactly what the people want from Lady Gaga and smash album Mayhem getting 7 f***ing Grammy nominations couldn't make it more clear.

How do you think Gaga manages to perform countless times without burping? That witchcraft thread has me thinking

She could also score nonstop mega-hits if she released more ARUTWs etc.

But she's never been about trying to score just commercial points tbh so I expect a jazz-infused metal album next

she also said the disease video inspired her Harlequin show even though the video was filmed two weeks AFTER the show already took place

I wonder if she will be able to achieve even greater success with the next era than she did with MAYHEM

LG8 will have a stronger start, I think. That's what usually happens if you quickly follow up on a popular album. She'll have the attention of a lot of casual music listeners and old fans because of Abracadabra and the general acclaim of Mayhem. It's probably going to be her biggest first week since ARTPOP.

Edited by Doctor Dick

I hope that she makes an album that prominently features an acoustic guitar. it can even still be a pop album, too. bird

She can still continue to explore Mayhem's themes but take her music in a more electronic pop rock direction like Born This Way. I feel an album like that would generate a lot of critical acclaim and chart success.

Edited by 4th Time Around

Her UK team better work their ass off and send mayhem back to chart after Xmas

I also think we shouldn't put much stock into what she yaps about. She's basically the world's first ever chatgpt
