Lady Gaga

This is part 2 of the Lady Gaga discussion.

It seems like she's just writing stuff and hasn't done any recording yet, so if this really becomes an album she'll likely record/finish it only after the tour is done. A late 2026 release is probably the earliest we could expect.

What genre do we want for LG8? I want Pop RnB alla DWUW with some twists here and there. But I'll guess we'll have to go through LG7.5 jazz album first lol. I hope her next jazz album is original music. I'd like to see what she comes up with and what her view of jazz is when she makes it from scratch. foxaylove2

Is Harlequin elegible since she's releasing it on Youtube?

Yeah the fact that it's YouTube doesn't matter

Why would she set up studios in her hotel rooms while she's been touring if she wasn't recording yet?

So she has some demos to scrap every now and then

I feel like such a bad little monster I have just never quite connected with Mayhem era. It hasn't met where I'm at unfortunately. I can recognise it's her best era since ARTPOP though. (Was tempted to say since Born This Way but no, she went EXTREMELY hard with ARTPOP. She refused to call curtains on it early when it wasn't as successful, she honoured her vomit clap3

Mayhem met me in bed, in the shower, while walking, at the gym, in the mall, outside, inside, at parties, in headphones, on speakers. It really is that album for me. chick1

Too much noise surrounding her working on music for it to just be writing. Besides, as already mentioned she had studios set up which wouldn't be needed if it was just writing. Could've been demos but demos on tour really sounds like a "we need to hurry the production up" because otherwise she'd wait with that until after the tour was done. Last time she did this was on tour for The Fame Monster when she was recording Born This Way.

we will hear LG8's lead before the end of this tour, just you wait

I'd be happy hearing it before the end of the decade maybe

im team r&b/pop but given the success of mayhem and if she plans to drop new music i want more rock/grunge.

I see a slower / more commercial album on the way, with flavors of DWAS and Close to You. The idea of Gaga going darker / heavier than Abracadabra and Perfect Celebrity is wonderful, but kinda too good to be true (also she admitted she scrapped the idea of a full heavy grunge album). Some soft rock and RnB influences are more likely

I wonder if she will be able to achieve even greater success with the next era than she did with MAYHEM

What I meant by recording is the production part and stuff, should've made it clearer. The way she talked about it makes me think there are just piano demos at this point.

We can only hope for continued critical success because a hit is never promised, especially if she's doing it solo I fear.

I think the next album will be 'Mayhem 2' just with a different name. 'Shallow' didn't cause Gaga to embrace that sound, so I don't see her chasing the 'DWAS' sound either. She knows what her fanbase wants and I don't think Gaga intended to follow up 'Mayhem' as quickly as she is doing when she originally put it out, which I believe means she sees a 'strike while the irons hit' situation to capitalise on 'Mayhems' success.

Also since she started diversifying her discography she's followed a trend:

ARTPOP (EDM) -> CTC (Jazz) -> Joanne (Ballad heavy)

AISB (Ballad heavy) -> Chrome (EDM) -> LFS (Jazz)

Harlequin (Jazz) -> MAYHEM (EDM) -> [Next album] (Ballad heavy?)

One thing MAYHEM made clear is how important it is for her to be present and promote the era. Same goes for touring closer to the album.

My only complaint is that I wish we had one or two more singles, hopefully they will fix this for LG8! duca

I see it less as a DWAS continuation and more of a this is Gaga's artistic expression continuing to go through its cycle. Not to say she'll ditch dance pop entirely but I don't see things getting heavier. Also her Carol King album has to come eventually. Throw some RNB pop for the commercial part of the album and we've got something palatable for everyone.

It's giving JWT constant recording on the road tease, I'll get hyped when things move past the demo stage. She was just as open with that as she is now.

Include a Michael pube pressed in the vinyl and I may purchase a physical album
