Florence + The Machine - 'Everybody Scream'

Featured Replies

This is such a strong album! The lyricism is probably her best from the last couple of albums, the production is stellar with many layers of sonic and vocal garnishes throughout, the songwriting is complex and twisty it's not generic at all and you just never know which way a song will go and how the lyrics will be delivered. Something else which stole the show was her voice, she sounds incredible from the highest notes to the low growls, she more than delivers

I especially enjoy the more rock elements, like on One of the Greats, which feels autobiographical in some parts.

What I will criticize is the imagery, it all feels so constant from Dance Fever. I completely checked out of the singles specifically because they didn't ,scream, fresh. Compare this to HBHBHB and it's previous album, DF are not too far apart and even the way she looked on those tv performances reminds me of DF

But overall, I adore this record. She has elevated her sound in an exciting way

Love Florence, but this isn't demonic enough for me. If the rest of the album is like this I might just stick with Britney.

the cover convinced me, and the snippet too!

The album has grown on me massively, but I still can't get into One of the Greats. :chick3: I find the lyrics corny and musically it feels like a non-event sandwiched between Everybody Scream and Witch Dance

Kraken kinda giving show opening number

will be really interesting to see which deep cuts she revives from previous albums to match this one's dark energy

Various Storms & Saints come get your spot

I think she will probably keep the Abracadabra/Which Witch mashup for the tour and bring Blinding and hopefully Seven Devils/Howl.

It's insane how good the title track becomes once you actually give it a chance. I can't believe I disliked it at first, it's absolutely epic :jonnyknife:

not if she keeps ******* up the words to WW/Abra :bibliahh:

On first listen, I didn't really enjoy the album...
But wow, relistened to it yesterday and think this is among her best work? It's more dense, wordy, complex — but such a beautiful record.
Love the two songs Danny collaborated (wish he added elements in more tracks tho).
This clears Dance Fever.

Music by Men is Florence doing The National and good GOD am I here for it as a gigantic fan of both

Never would've expected it to break me the way it's continuously doing!

Just got my floor tix for Boston :fan:

maybe that's why it's the standout track for me as a national fan :rip:

The way that season six lyric immediately made me think of Buffy, and she's confirmed it was the inspiration has took me out.  Florence escaping to Sunnydale was not on my bingo card.

I'm really enjoying this. One of the Greats is one of those songs you can just get lost in and not realize it's been going for over six minutes, her Venice B*tch.

Maybe I didn't totally give it a fair shake but Dance Fever washed over me without making much of impression. This is catching my attention much more. Her and Dessner feel so perfectly entwined. The lyrics on Perfume and Milk and The Old Religion are very strong.

This is a masterpiece of an album. It's so dramatic and absolutely drowning in atmosphere. Fantastic project.

It's what she deserves :clap3:

Now we have to start the campaign to get the much deserved and long overdue AOTY nomination and Grammy WIN. She's so underrated. :weeps:

Any dancier songs on here, I must admit I really miss her before High As Hope, things changed for her and thats fine, but I miss that era of her artistry. Havent been able to lock into the last two albums.

Every time The Old Religion comes on I'm just like holy **** I can't believe this exists.
