PJ Harvey - The Classics Rate / And The Winner is...
Thank you @HonourableVomit for the insight and humbling commentary! The journey was thoroughly entertaining. Loved that my pronouns were consistently she/her! I'm not a doll, simply a 5' 8" queenie.

PJ Harvey - The Classics Rate / And The Winner is...
Who The **** is a song that will always get me amped, and maybe the song that made me absolutely love Miss Harvey. Supreme-ly hard of hearing: You were wrong for this comment and the Joni Mitchell one, too.

Madonna - 'CONFESSIONS II'
Remember when people speculated that the album name was "Algo-Rhythm"? 💀

Phoebe Bridgers - "Lost Boys"
The chorus (especially at the end) getting a little too "stomp clap hey" for my liking
- Lorde - XRAYS ('Virgin' demos/WIPs for 1 year anniversary)

Satellites by Frost Children is a SOTY contender - but ATRL didn't move. Why?
Should have known that the evolutionary endpoint of this DJ/Producer electronic revival would be the reinvention of Breathe Carolina.

Will straight men ever start listening to female artists more?
I will only listen to female and queer artists and no one in this forum will convince me otherwise OT: Interesting how the gendered aspects of art and performance are being discussed in contrasting ways here. I do think male artists are seen as some sort of default, where the listener trusts them implicitly. I'm also seeing people get pretty reductive about female artists and their image, which is part of the problem!

One of the best albums of all time, Melodrama by Lorde, turns 9 today
Melodrama has one of the defining qualities that I love in music, which is all-encompassing emotional impact. Every feeling is monumental. This album will always be a blueprint.

Carly Rae Jepsen - 'Day and Night'
Cautiously radically optimistic. Also, that date and time is not for any release. A single/album coming out at 9:01 am on a Wednesday? Please take time to build your inference skills.

Bowen Yang says he left SNL because he "never felt central" to the show
He started as a writer on SNL first, and was then promoted to being on camera. Cast members will co-write on sketches, but usually it's the writers creating sketches or parts for the actors. One of his biggest writing partners, Celeste Yim, left SNL around the same time that he did. It is probably difficult to lose collaborators in that space. And, as is true for all other cast members, they don't get to choose what airs. I don't blame him for leaving. The schedule seems draining. It isn't always a good fit despite being one of the few stable job options for comedians, so it is hard to say no if offered. A majority of the comments he would get online each week were similar to what is happening in this thread; people complaining that he doesn't have range for not being convincing as a "straight" character (comedic role or otherwise), when most of the successful cast members have their own formula, and are seen as neutral/default for just being straight. Last thing I will say is that while I don't necessarily love/recommend the movie Fire Island, Bowen has a good part in it that shows a more reserved side to him, and is one of the more convincing emotional anchors in the plot.

If you think she is being pretentious, you don't have to consider yourself excluded. Anyway, love her!

Linda Perry: "Madonna seems weak, not powerful, she follows trends"
Was going to ignore this whole conversation, but it showed up on my feed so I'll just say 4 Non Blondes What's Up is one of the worst songs ever made. OT: She wants Madonna to "get back to her strength" by doing what Linda Perry wants her to do? I can't agree when her suggestion for what Madonna should do sounds worse.
