The single she didn't want to release and didn't get a video vs. the single she wanted to release and got a video

 

 

This is probably the biggest flop of her career, even Like What (Freestyle) did better.  

Is it too late to include Enough (Miami) and Like What on the album?   

This was such a disappointing release. She had a ton of momentum, too, so she needs to bury it with another song ASAP.

IP isnt a bad song and should have been released first as the promo single with the album announcement. Then Outside should have been the lead single. Both songs should have gotten a video. IP is getting a lot of praise, it just doesn't have replay value and isnt a summer song.

That's what she wanted.

Early in the summer, she made a live about the new people at the label tripping and I think a barb quickly made a thread and either deleted or hid it thinking it was a bad sign for her album.

 

All along, it was HER pushing for this song to be released without a visual while the label pushed for Outside.

 

IP with the album released would have fared better in June but not a top 10 like Outside.

 

I think she wanted a solo song with her rapping about her run for fashion nova to Vogue and fashion week status upgrade.

 

The label was smart to say Outside is a hit and it also covers the chapter close of Offset so it's a good transition song into the album.

 

She served bars and visuals but it looks like this won't be served to radio or pushed so at least she got to put out the song SHE wanted.

 

Going forward, I think Atlantic has the leverage to pick the singles and use Outside vs IP as an I told you so.

 

IP is still a good album track. It's going to slide well on an album likely after a few uptempos.

The album is long so it will surely have some hits but this rollout is officially a disaster lmao

 

This was the most excitement I've seen for a cardi song in years, people who dont even like her were curious

 

All she had to do was give us one of these (Jayz sampled hits)

Omg I didn't expect much but the song really is WAYYYY better like this.

 

 

I like this one a lot. Plus the comments in the video are praising her. It might not be as successful as Outside, but she is getting respect from rap fans, and that's a good thing too

I think a lot of you are over exaggerating what this underperformance means. The reason is flopping is because none of Cardi’s fans can relate to it and her energy is a little subdued compares to her best tracks. If she comes out with a banger or break up song, you’ll obviously see a lot more traction for the song. It’s that simple.

At this point her musical legacy will be known for just music videos where she flaunts her wealth in haute couture. I still have hope for the album, we'll see.

This is a real concern. At a time when people in the US are suffering and barely can afford meals, she's bragging about wealth. The break up song against Offset would have been way smarter! Just capitalize on it already
