The song is terrible. Cardi has bad taste and shouldn't have so much creative control.

Her label was right, this wasn't a song to be single material!

This was NOT the type of song to be a single or even a buzz single. What the hell were they thinking?

I think we all get this, and understand that she can perform better with a different formula. The main issue/question is who is this song even for? A) This style is not what her core fanbase or the casual listener gravitates to her for. B) Hip-hop heads who know the intricacies of good rap AND who are familiar with the original can recognize how much this falls flat. It's not a terrible song. It's just overall underwhelming. And will underwhelm on the charts to match.

They weren't thinking about it. THis was Cardi's choice.

 

They wanted Outside and she fought against Outside and wanted to put this out in June (even if filming a video later). Now, this song wouldn't have gone top 10 like Outside but it probably would have benefited from the album announcement buzz and at least went top 40.

 

While the standard people are doing what they do she has gotten praise from a lot of people who are really into hip hop and who's introduction wasn't It's getting hot in here so take off all your clothes or lick it like a lollipop.

 

I think the issue is that she wanted this more than Outside which means the label is a better singles picker than the artist which has been the case for many artists.

 

I mean she pushed for Bartier Cardi and Ring and didn't think I like it was going to be as big so...

 

Looks like the label will be selecting the singles for the remaining of the era but it's good that she got hers off...

I have to disagree. Outside was a bop that most of her fanbase could relate to and it only lasted a week in the top 20. Something is off

I can't speak on hip hop since it's not my main genre of music that I listen to but what is up with Cardi's music. Her debut was stacked with hit after hit and now it's snooze after snooze. I want her to win, but her ear for music is…….

She should listen to A&R, this was not a needed release but there's so many songs left on the album we know there's hits waiting

I genuinely also feel cardi's heart is not in the music so far from what I've heard, that's just my opinion, but the energy is not there in either of the new singles to me. You can have a fierce or just non-dead energy on a laidback beat like Meg with B.I.T.C.H. which was her own homage song. It's giving contract obligation fulfillment  to me after 7 years and much money sunk by the label, she could promo this era more too. 7 years in this music age is a long long time, there should be more impact after such a wait but a lot of her fanbase both casual and stans have moved on to other artists by the numbers

Outside is pop friendly though 🤷🏽‍♂️ with the right promo and push that song could still be sitting in the top 10

 

Also just a few short years ago her records lived in the top 10 more than Doja's
