That pride should be in any way celebratory, especially this year. It's a protest, and it's a fight. Given all the horrible things that have happened to our community on a global scale, now is not the time for pop girlie concerts and bad drinks.

I have seen little evidence to suggest that "found family" is anything more than a myth propagated by the media.

 

 

I'm also tired of how much queer stories center those who live in cities. It's treated as some divine truth that queer people will be so much happier and freer and find ourselves and find our community if we just move to a city. But it's just confirmation bias, because all of the books and shows and movies and newspapers and songs are written by people who moved to cities.

Well, villages and rural areas are conservative, at least in my country. And there's simply nothing going on for queer people in the countryside. I'm happy to live in the city. It has completely changed my life. I saw gay couples here for the first time in my life.

 

This year will show who is really standing up for LGBT+ rights and who is just using the LGBT+ community as cosmetics to appear progressive.

It's might not be a norm but it definitely gets normalized by a pretty big portion of the community. I personally just don't think it's necessary to be completely undressed or in only your jockstrap at public pride events. Especially when you're aware that queer people from

all ages, including young kids and teens, will be present. I see it plenty of times where I'm from. It's not a right wing talking point since many progressive people from the LGBT community feel the same way. It's about being considerate to other people. Theres a time and place for everything.

the right wing talking point is that pride equals male nudity when only like a bunch of participants are dressed only in underwear or go command or dresh in a kink-exhibiting way.

Because the instances of this happening in mainstream public settings with children present is actually fairly minimal in comparison to the the way it is amplified by the right on social media as a way of "othering" the gay community by portraying them as sick perverts.
