I love everything that's happening inside Favourite Daughter, there is a folk song happening behind the electronic production. Flawless.

A lot of this comes from outside the fanbase, or at least part time fans.

 

Even now in release week we see a lot of "Justice for Solar Power" people popping out of the woodwork, only 1-2 I've seen posting in the base thread. Nothing wrong with having a favourite of course, but maybe give the new album a few weeks before deciding where past albums fit into the discography. Most regular fans have been enthusiastic about Lorde moving forwards, not backwards.

Sorrrt but I HAVE TO QUESTION your taste.  comparing Lorde to that.

On first listen, I definitely like it better than Solar Power. 

 

My favorite tracks are Hammer (should've been the lead), Broken Glass, Shapeshifter, Favorite Daughter and If She Could See Me Now.

I havent listened to this whole album (except the 3 singles) just yet because I want my first time to be in my car, but Hammer did make me excited so much for the album. 

I'm surprised it all comes together well 

man of the year is truly one of their best

Shapeshifter alone makes the album sooo worth it  what a song

This is the most thematically interesting and complex pop album of the year damn 

Not Current Affairs becoming the first track I put on repeat with that sample lmao, what can I say it sounds good 

It's okay not great. Definitely a downgrade from Solar Power which remains her second best album. 

This album is gooood, I like all songs here except for maybe Clearblue. I think the singles undersold it a bit. Beautiful lyrics and production, I find it as a perfect balance between roughness and sentimentalism. This is what i was expecting after Melodrama!!

I am extremely pleasantly surprised.
