Taylor Swift removes audio of "august" and other songs from TikToks posted by Trump
I don't really think that many people think she is MAGA. But the combination of becoming a billionaire, and then a multi-billionaire, and dating Travis, and her new proximity to the whole sports media scene which is full of conservative males, means that her circle of friends has changed from a few years ago. Her friends and acquaintances now includes more Trump supporters, right wing financial and sports media people, Trump government contractors (including ICE) and high profile Zionists like Adam Sandler. She isn't going to say anything to offend these friends, who are also friends of Travis.

Lorde
Lorde's influence and impact August 2026 edition: part 1: Gracie Abrams YouTube shorts video part 2: KPop Demon Hunters Soundtrack Songwriters for "What It Sounds Like" from the KPop Demon Hunters Soundtrack describe how Lorde's Green Light was the inspiration. The team of composers was inspired by "Green Light" from Lorde, as both songs are about accepting hurt and learning to move on.[3] "Hide and Seek" from Imogen Heap was also an influence on the song due to its vocoder vocals and similar theme of finding true identity.[4] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_It_Sounds_Like https://kpop-demon-hunters.fandom.com/wiki/What_It_Sounds_Like https://www.salon.com/2025/06/29/kpop-demon-hunters-fandom-folklore-saja-boys-huntrix/

If Fantano's reviews counted towards Metacritic, would your favs be safe?
You can tell from the lack of maintenance on the music section of the site, that Metacritic don't care about music reviews. The only reason they keep posting reviews scores, is because stans post links to Metacritic reviews on social media. This happens because of weighting factors that make the Metacritic reviews scores higher than AOTY and others. To get a good aggregate score on Metacritic, you need good scores from a small bunch of publications that include: Pitchfork Rolling Stone New York Times (a publication best known for being cheerleaders for a genocide). These publications have all had some questionable reviews, and NYT don't even post a numerical review score, yet somehow they can have a major impact on the final Metacritic aggregate review score. No one should take Metacritic scores too seriously, but stans will continue to quote Metacritic because they tend to have a higher number attached. OT - Fantano has never given Lorde a great review and probably never will. But he is just one reviewer/youtuber and the AOTY score uses a fairer system than Metacritic. This site is also good: http://anydecentmusic.com - and they don't include fantano review scores. But stans won't quote that one either, because Metacritic scores tend to be higher.

Who could get away with lipsyncing these days?
Why not, do I have to mention other singers in my post when other people in this tread have already pointed out the obvious? Also, there was a video in the post I replied to and I had seen the video more than a year ago and was amused by some of the Swifties who had insisted it was all live, or that he had chosen the wrong song or some other excuse.

Lorde says Melodrama never felt perfect enough, cried & got sick before turning it in
She wrote about having so many doubts at the time. This was in one of the NZ news sites, and I think it was just a day or two before the Melodrama album release. https://interactives.stuff.co.nz/2017/06/lordes-difficult-second-record/

Who could get away with lipsyncing these days?
What you have to understand is that everyone in this thread already knew most singers are doing it, so you don't need to reply to everyone to tell them.

Who could get away with lipsyncing these days?
I remember that video, the Swifties complained and asked him to look at different songs, so he did a follow up video showing that most of the Eras tour was pre-recorded and the parts that weren't were using live autotune. Edit: actually it was two follow up videos:

Why do people still take Pitchfork seriously?
They can be a bit hit and miss, but I'm not going to get angry with them. However, Metacritic should stop using their weighting formula that puts more weight on reviews by Pitchfork, Rolling Stone and New York Times (who don't even post a score) and a few others, when all of these publications have posted some very questionable reviews/review scores at times.

Willie Nelson urges Americans to fight the construction of data centers.
There is a common misconception that all datacenters are the same, but this is not the case. In a traditional datacenter, there might be a database and in most systems, some type of web interface where you request the data you want, a photo on Instagram, a song on Spotify, or a search result on Google. The rest is I/O, delivering the content from a disk to the user. The processing requirements are not particularly high. In an AI datacenter, you are not simply requesting data, you are asking the AI datacenter to create the content for you. This means that a ChatGPT query can use 10 times as much energy as a Google search. KanoppiSearch Engines vs AI: energy consumption comparedFind out more about the differences in energy consumption and environmental impact between search engines and AI tools. This will depend on the complexity of the query and things like image generation and other types of content creation have a much higher requirement. This not only means higher carbon emissions, but with more heat there is a higher demand for cooling, which is were some of the water usage and noise concerns come from. This is separate from some of the other IA issues, such as the shredding of out-of-print and rare books in order to feed the content into IA models.

BTS announce they will not submit their music to the GRAMMYs this year
This has been the case for many years, even for many white English speaking artists. The Grammy awards is largely about who you know in the US music industry and the Hollywood social scene. Multi-millionaires and billionaires voting for their friends, not for some random person or group from another part of the world. In most cases, non US pop artists need a huge era to win. Ed Sheeran only wins when he has a HUGE hit, such as "Thinking Out Loud", which is currently 18xRIAA Platinum and "Shape of You" which was also huge, and divide was the biggest album on Spotify for many years. Lorde was only nominated once (and won) in the pop genre, when she had a 9-week #1 hit which is currently 15× RIAA Platinum. Sam Smith was nominated for one smash era and then again when he went #1 with "Unholy". American artists are often nominated (and sometimes win) for panned and flopped albums and songs. In other genres it can be worse. To the best of my knowledge, only one UK Grime artist has won a Grammy, and that was as a featured artist in the dance/electronic genre. Perhaps BTS think they are the only ones who have a difficult time winning. Edit: I get the segregation argument, but isn't pop vs RnB a form of segregation? Is that bad too? Isn't pop vs county (and most of it is country-pop) a form of regional segregation?

The date of the substack post is Jul 22, 2026. Perhaps they're calling XRAYS an upcoming album, even though it was released in June and they earlier called it "49 demos". But it reads like they are talking about an actual Lorde album later in 2026. That sounds far too soon given the amount of touring that she's doing now.

The audience for that sort of propaganda is older people who might be willing to write-off younger activists, and young people in general as uniformed. 2026 Iran War: US threatens to bomb Oman, Russia supplies Iran with weapons
Trump has his orders from Israel and apparently this Pickaxe Mountain is the new target. https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/israel-believes-iran-moved-nuclear-centrifuges-into-pickaxe-mountain-d29d21c0 In 2025, Trump claimed that U.S. airstrikes completely "obliterated" Iran's key nuclear facilities and enriched material, but now they have to go in again for the nuclear facilities they already destroyed and when aerial bombardment fails, the US will have to send in ground troops.

The music industry is currently infested with nepo-babies
Are these all nepo-babies? Some of these are just from rich families, with minimal if any influence in the entertainment industry. Just like the one with a Merrill Lynch stockbroker father, or the one with a defense contractor marine communications systems CEO mother, or the one with a father that made a fortune in hotel Wi-Fi, or a father who was founder of WebMediaProperties.

Lorde drags Spotify & its new AI features via Instagram stories
There have been about 60 shows in the Ultrasound Tour and many of them have reviews, some shows having multiple reviews. I think part of the confusion comes when one song follows the other, one or two songs later. In Current Affairs she might begin to remove her jeans, and during GRWM the dancer pours water on her. I suspect that if they paid an actual human to write the "About the Song" sections, they might check the NME review, or perhaps multiple reviews, instead of taking the first review they found, such as the one you posted that didn't mention GRWM at all, even thought it was part of the set that night, two songs after Current Affairs. Half the time, AI search results and AI answers are based on a random post on reddit, or something like that so it could have been worse.
