I though the whole point of Cleveland was to say she knows it's panned but shes fine with it? She even made Cleveland purposely obnoxious because of the criticism of the album being "not showgirl enough". I dont think she cares that she comes off goofy and I actually like she embraced it for a song without worrying that people find her "cringe"

I don't think she's talking about her music in Cleveland, it's more about what people say about her ("how does she dress so bad for someone with so much money" "she can't dance", "she's not a girl's girl" etc). It's not so much about her being goofy, it's that songs about what her haters say have just kind of become a tired concept from her at this point tbh and she's already gotten flack for overdoing it in that department. The goofiness on top of that doesn't help rip

when i was in there earlier it was essentially just a circle jerk for her haters so i left one comment and haven't returned since and i doubt i will return. it's sad how much her second fan base plague her threads but her actual fans are called a "cult" because we do this really outlandish thing…listen to and buy her music. these people cannot be real. i refuse to believe i live in the same world with such lack of self awareness and stupidity.

after the online criticism of showgirl, her releasing a song like Cleveland is clearly intentional. she doesn't care about those online discourse anymore. so if you enjoy the music, like me, just move along and avoid the negativity and the clearly obvious snark threads.

if you're still a tay warrior fighting the OTHs on those threads, I salute you though.

the negativity might actually be breaking me a bit guys. i don't even dislike these deluxe songs (dont love them either), but the overwhelming negativity and litigation of the validity of her entire career, claims of ghostwriting, etc from people who are in the fandom, bandwagoners who enjoyed like 2 eras and dipped years ago but still check in every album release just to drag her again, ppl who don't think she's made a single good song in her career, ppl who think she's hitler. its exhausting. im barely feeling like listening to any music rn but esp not hers, which sucks bc ive never had the negativity get to me like this. the internet is a f*cking scourge gaycat6

Honestly, this is how I felt almost a year ago shortly after the standard edition's release. The cure for me was entirely and only to tune out what the internet was saying, focus on how I felt and whether I liked things, and have real conversations with real people again about interests like music, people who shared some of my tastes and could challenge me on others. It did help that I loved IKIIKY and these new songs I'll admit - it's tougher in the moment when the latest thing isn't something you love. But also, maybe it could help to intentionally reconnect with past albums that you know you love! Alone, on your own time, in your own ways and spaces. Remember what it's like to just love the music without regard for what other people think. It might even help your perspective on some of the material that's not clicking for you; it's a lot easier to love something corny or cheesy or dorky when you're not doing it in full view of others, in my experience, and we all know some of Taylor's work can be all of those things.

On topic of extramusical stuff at hand, of course the hate is forced, but I am not sure why anyone actually entertains that at all.

You people need to understand one simple thing: 80 % of people "trashing" her are just fans of musical acts that were her contemporaries while ago and are washed up now and they just want their lick back purely because she happened to outdo them in the spotlight.

It doesn't help the fact that she simply washes newer acts too. She can't be everyone's favorite.

But large part of this is due to pent up jealosy and rage.

These certain people do not care about music or its supposed quality (they grew up and still listen to acts that were always trashed in the music press if we want to go down that route, so…)

Cleveland is not Mirrorball, but then again This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things is definitely not Pink Clouding level of craft, so there is that.

This particular output is not far away from who she has always been as musical artist in core.

The domination and certain type of monopoly she has is not going to be just accepted. And she knows this too. The push back is all irrelevant in the end.

perfectly said clap3

For TS13, I want her to keep the album title as vague as possible. No more thematic titles and no more letter describing the sound.

Like RED, 1989, evermore and no description of sound (1989 + folklore did so much damage this time)

yeah she was kinda mean for Cleveland! like whatever you say online, I'm still the one making the songs and there's literally nothing you can do about it. lmao

I mean of course she says that but I think we all know Taylor still craves some sort of validation (atleast from her fans), just not nearly as much as she did earlier in her career.

i would agree with you but her actions match her words

a lot of people thought she would ditch showgirl and be embarrassed of it, and she went and recorded more songs for it

a lot of people thought she was gonna try to course-correct because of the criticism and these songs are pretty much in the same vein as the main album

they dragged her for her variants, she's still releasing them

these are just not the actions of someone who cares about the criticism tbh. she's going to make the art she wants to make and she doesn't have to worry about a thing because she has all the money in the world already so it's not like she's at risk of losing it all if people stop liking her music. it sucks for some fans that won't enjoy the output, but she strikes me as someone who is making music for herself as opposed to trying to please people.

I want new producers. She can keep jack for a few songs and if max stays for a few songs, get a new co producer besides shellback

Sidebar, the cadence, melody, and harmonies in the chorus of Patient Zero are spellbinding crack magic to my brain

But if you wanna party with somebody who might know WAP

Need online cleanse to enjoy. The haters don't bother me. It's those swifties who enjoy hating on Taylor. Not the music. "I'm happy for for getting married. But can someone please break her heart" "divorce him" "Travis please cheat on her" it's not criticism about the music. You literally want her to suffer for your entertainment

idk why everybody is the ultimate TLOAS defender now as if we were not collectively just dogpiling on the album right before Mr.S's postrip

like please we are not about to rewrite history and pretend it was a great album and we really liked it. and yall are not gonna act like we are bad fans because we can acknowledge she made a bad album

i understand what you mean, because when i came on here to talk about the new songs, i was so excited and then i just saw so much negativity on here and on x. it's hard to escape it, but i guess it comes with her popularity unfortunately. you just have to learn to ignore it.

there have been so many members on here i've wanted to cuss tf out, but there's really no point. i listen to taylor's music because of how it makes me feel, not because of how it makes other people feel.

i mean, i'm seeing people calling "cleveland!" a massive bop and hoping it becomes a hit while other people are calling it the worst song of her career. i feel like her music is always critiqued to the extreme. it's either overwhelmingly positive or overwhelmingly negative.

don't let it bring you down though and feel like you have to stop listening to her music. a lot of the hate is exaggerated and from a loud minority. social media will have you thinking the most outlandish takes are how the majority of the gp actually think and it's all a bunch of bs!

She is so happy in her life.

How can these people call themselves fans? Wishing sick or death to her parents?

You are absolutely right. 13 is her brand but people gonna drag her for using Adele-Esque title.

idk who that is but i've been a fan of the life of a showgirl since day one. i can't speak for anybody else but there's been no revising history or "pretending" from me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

at the end of the day it really isn't travis' fault that the love songs aren't hitting that hard. imo she maybe wants to protect her relationship from the public in a sense, because even with joe we kinda got the ins and outs of their dynamic and it created a lot of parasocial jaylors

i like it too, but in the same breath i can acknowledge that it is certainly weaker in many aspects compared to her other albums. and ofc we can all have our personal tastes, im sure someone here thinks its her best, but we can't pretend like it isnt her worst received album by the public and her fans

i unfortunately saw that post on x and that caption is insane. people are too comfortable posting the most outlandish bs on social media. idc if it was supposed to be funny because it wasn't. that girl is a weirdo.

Hoping her parents get sick when her mother is a breast cancer survivor whose medical status we don't know and, as far as I recall, haven't gotten an update on since a recurrence with a brain tumor is genuinely grotesque kinda behavior deadvision

in my head the album should be her reflecting on 13 pivotal moments of her life, something like midnights but certainly bigger and better

that means we'll get like the 50th kimye track though rip it peaked with cassandra

I'm chronically online and even I haven't even come across half of these. 70% of all web traffic and interactions is AI. Take a breather.
