Taylor Swift

My personal hope for TS13 is that she's secretly been keeping tracks in the vault that she's written over the years and thought were genuinely 100% her very best, but needed a milestone project like this to earn their recording and release.

Also, transparently, I want her to write, record, and produce all of it on her own, not a single other soul. I almost feel like that's part of why Showgirl was an intentional return to Max and Shellback - she's talked so much about what she's learned from them in a technical sense that I can't help but wonder if to her, it's a stepping stone toward being able to confidently do it all herself.

Edit: and also there's 13 songs and it's called something like 13 lmao

i like it too, but in the same breath i can acknowledge that it is certainly weaker in many aspects compared to her other albums. and ofc we can all have our personal tastes, im sure someone here thinks its her best, but we can't pretend like it isnt her worst received album by the public and her fans

yeah I posted my thoughts a couple of pages ago and said i enjoy the album as a whole but can see why it's seen as a step down from the tortured poets department and how the highs of that album were much higher than those on the life of a showgirl. i also think a lot of the criticism is valid but some people take it to the extreme and act like it's the biggest crime known to modern music and it really isn't that deep! lol

there are some genuinely great songs on the album whereas some people think there isn't a single redeeming quality throughout all 16 tracks. i can take a difference of opinion but a lot of the hate seems very forced. especially some of the bs I'm seeing on x. it's just to farm likes from other taylor haters who couldn't form their own opinion even if they had a step by step book on how to do so.

the negativity might actually be breaking me a bit guys. i don't even dislike these deluxe songs (dont love them either), but the overwhelming negativity and litigation of the validity of her entire career, claims of ghostwriting, etc from people who are in the fandom, bandwagoners who enjoyed like 2 eras and dipped years ago but still check in every album release just to drag her again, ppl who don't think she's made a single good song in her career, ppl who think she's hitler. its exhausting. im barely feeling like listening to any music rn but esp not hers, which sucks bc ive never had the negativity get to me like this. the internet is a f*cking scourge gaycat6

It gets tiring but we all know (taylor knows too) that she can never win with these parasocial haters because the current album is never good enough until there is a new era

idk why everybody is the ultimate TLOAS defender now as if we were not collectively just dogpiling on the album right before Mr.S's postrip

like please we are not about to rewrite history and pretend it was a great album and we really liked it. and yall are not gonna act like we are bad fans because we can acknowledge she made a bad album

No one is defending the album per se though.

It is rather clear obvious that Reputation happened after something like Red. But that didn't mean she had lost it despite it being painted as such.,

Showgirl is happening after something like evermore.

And the same thing now is what kept happening with her others albums in the past too. It was never clean situation with some types of the crowds.

She simply is not going to want nor confine herself to the same atmosphere/music especially when she is still in public's graces and actually relevant.

As someone's said I would be soooo here for a full Jack produced album with no synth sound. If it's her Sling I would gladly take it heart2

In my ideal scenario, like I've always said, she should work with Adam Granduciel(= The War on Drugs). He has everything that works for her music: singer-songwriter vocal delivery, full-band production and really clean sound. Interestingly Sam Fender somehow managed to snatched him

in my head the album should be her reflecting on 13 pivotal moments of her life, something like midnights but certainly bigger and better

that means we'll get like the 50th kimye track though rip it peaked with cassandra

and when she calls it "13 inches" in tribute to travis then what?

Also Patient Zero proves that she isn't "creatively bankrupt" like the OTHs love to say. She clearly still has things to say as it pertains to relationships, even if she is currently happy in her own life. The lyrics and melody are so 36 year old Taylor coded. The wordy, run on sentence bridge is the only negative but that's something that she needs to retire from in general.

when i listen to the album im like okay this is pretty good, but like if i stuck foolish one (a scrap) or the very first night (a scrap) on to the album, it would stick out like a sore thumb

it's like when you compare it to her other works it's bad, but if u just listen to it by itself it's fine. so it's just like bad for her standards imo but it's generally a solid album

we'll be perched for how she manages to scatter "new heights" throughout the album

no because lost weekend production is absolutely PHENOMENAL! the production choices are all taylor's fault tbh. like if you listen to the MBOBHFT piano voice memo the stripped back traditional production works sooo much better. but then she interrupts at the end talking about a synth beat. meanwhile, i think jack's natural instinct would be something similar to lana's COTCC

what a choice i love it
but like the national / aaron i fear the reverby industrial atmosphere wont suit her

so Patient Zero has broken my personal record for most plays in a month

in under 24 hours of release

girl what you're literally the only person here that's mad at what i'm saying while every other swiftie is having a normal discussion

and you're literally the only person here who's admitted to not listening to TLOAS "for months" so i genuinely like it a lot more than you, and that message was probably aimed at you

and again, i don't mind the deluxe songs, my argument is that it just wasn't needed and just hurt her grammy/oscar campaign even more. look at the metacritic score. and yet that is somehow so offensive to you (someone who doesn't like TLOAS)

she was a laughing stock during TLOAS release, and just when she got her goodwill back, she came back and dragged the era out to be a laughing stock once again. say goodbye to the IKI,IKY oscar nomination and possibly ophelia grammys because everyone is laughing at this, especially cleveland

semifictional stories are a big thing.

like that ryan murphy show based on a book where the author told about his teen years but added a serial killer to spice things up

I wasn't here but Showgirl is my most streamed album every month since it's release. I wasn't here since the OG release but even then I just don't engage with people who hate the album, because what? i'll try to change their mind? no. it's because it's release day so everybody voice their opinions.

Honestly I don't understand the hype over I Knew It I Knew You. I literally listened to it twice and never again. so meh. it's fine but boring and a nothing burger. guess it's all the swifties who can't stand Showgirl that had to be "oh, we're so back" well, good for them.

yeah i think a lot of evermore primarily fell into that category, meanwhile most of folklore was really just her mind running wild

Honestly, this is how I felt almost a year ago shortly after the standard edition's release. The cure for me was entirely and only to tune out what the internet was saying, focus on how I felt and whether I liked things, and have real conversations with real people again about interests like music, people who shared some of my tastes and could challenge me on others. It did help that I loved IKIIKY and these new songs I'll admit - it's tougher in the moment when the latest thing isn't something you love. But also, maybe it could help to intentionally reconnect with past albums that you know you love! Alone, on your own time, in your own ways and spaces. Remember what it's like to just love the music without regard for what other people think. It might even help your perspective on some of the material that's not clicking for you; it's a lot easier to love something corny or cheesy or dorky when you're not doing it in full view of others, in my experience, and we all know some of Taylor's work can be all of those things.

i understand what you mean, because when i came on here to talk about the new songs, i was so excited and then i just saw so much negativity on here and on x. it's hard to escape it, but i guess it comes with her popularity unfortunately. you just have to learn to ignore it.

there have been so many members on here i've wanted to cuss tf out, but there's really no point. i listen to taylor's music because of how it makes me feel, not because of how it makes other people feel.

i mean, i'm seeing people calling "cleveland!" a massive bop and hoping it becomes a hit while other people are calling it the worst song of her career. i feel like her music is always critiqued to the extreme. it's either overwhelmingly positive or overwhelmingly negative.

don't let it bring you down though and feel like you have to stop listening to her music. a lot of the hate is exaggerated and from a loud minority. social media will have you thinking the most outlandish takes are how the majority of the gp actually think and it's all a bunch of bs!

thanks sisters chick3 i dont think i'd ever stop listening to her entirely like fjdjdfk she's one of my two main divas.....but i think i wanna try to eliminate her presence from my algorithms as much as possible, and then re-integrate her. i dont rlly have any environment to discuss her in good faith besides this base ig (even my family mostly dislikes her rip) so i think relegating her to the secret gardens in my mind might be the tea. just blocking out as much noise as possible and limiting it to myself + the few swiftie creators i choose. hopefully that makes listening to her less loaded fkjdfj

ur right, but the sh*t ppl spout on twitter/tiktok/here is absurd and unending, and almost always gets a sh*tton of support. that one tweet alleging joe ghostwrote folkmore with 70k+ likes (it being a longer running theory atp too) being an example, but ppl say the most incendiary and bad faith stuff and get applauded for it. maybe bot activity to an extent but my brain sees it and gets frustrated even if i know that fkjdjdf rip

This fanbase has such big expectations of a woman that's 20 years in deadbanana"all i want her to make is another magnum opus, how hard is that" lmao yall are so funny (non sarcastically)

Im really seeing the difference between a fan and a stan here, if she makes an album I don't care much for like showgirl again, ill just pick and choose what I like and bouncerip its not that serious for me. If she falls, she'll rise again, shes too established atp to not have people returning to her when she makes work they like. Like I'm so dismayed about her Oscar chances, what? Lmao idgaf if she gets one or not, that's her business skull i like her artistry, i like shes a goof, and i simply ignore the music of hers I don't like but I come back every release. Some of us are just here to have a good time with music, not evaluate every piece of her career every release

Also Patient Zero, with a reduced bridge should've been the only song added to the album to close out the era. Like someone else mentioned the other 3 songs despite being cute have done her 0 favors for her Grammy campaign. Granted, I don't think the album was getting awarded as a whole anyway and hopefully this doesn't hurt Ophelia's ROTY chances (it shouldn't right?)

My question to Swiftie who are defending this

Why do you think Taylor released encore?

Is there no voice in her team anymore?

Is that a good thing?

These 4 songs will make sure .. she is out of Oscar Race and will definitely not win a single Grammy

All the goodwill thrown out for these 4 songs which let's face are it are not even controversial just pure bad
