Like, what do you mean she has 16 multiplatinum albums, already 4 ahead of Madonna and 9 ahead of her closest contemporary peer. Like what do you mean the lowest multiplatinum certification she has including the rerecordings is 4X? Like, what do you mean 10 studio albums are 6X or higher? Showgirl will join that with her next update making it 11.

Showgirl is mid but tbh I didn't care that much for the lyrics of this album. I find her lyrical content less relevant in her pop material than in her country/alt one. My biggest problem with Showgirl is actually the album sequencing. Ophelia into Father Figure is a legendary 4 track run, but then both Eldest Hag (mid af song aside from the bridge) and Ruin The Friendship (amazing but sonically disruptive in the album's flow) p*ss me off.

I was reflecting on the fact that Ariana, much like Taylor, released an album featuring vulnerable lyrics where she lays bare all her insecurities and inner darkness, eschewing over-the-top production. Up until 2023, this kind of move would have been highly acclaimed by critics, yet now Ariana has been panned, just as Taylor was with TTPD. It makes me wonder if people online,especially those obsessed with comparisons, have convinced these online publications (particularly P****fork that they hold more sway than they actually do, effectively making it fashionable again to hate on major pop stars. Honestly, if Taylor were to release Folklore or RED in today's climate, they'd likely get a score of 75 at best, with various outlets ready to tear them apart

Showgirl will probably warm up to me within the next year or so. It's so weird how I haven't listened to it (besides ET) in MONTHS and some of the lyrics/melodies still make their way back into my brain, seeping in like water slowly making its way through a stone. As of right now, I'm hoping for some distance between her and the TLOAS type of record in the future.

"sugar rush" is a perfect way to describe it. It's obviously very sachharine and like sweets, you can't eat them all the time but when you eat them, they make you feel great for a moment
