Taylor being inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in her first year of being elligible is a no-brainer. She is without a doubt the most famous and accomplished person to ever come out of Nashville.

Even mainstream pop music has now been transformed by her incorporating the Nashville tradition into her pop sound. The shift that occured after 1989 and Taylor doing pop music but still pushing the songwriting craft at the forefront of discussion is truly underrated. Back then, even the good/great songwriters wouldn't market themselves as songwriters. Now, even the most terrible songwriters will call themselves songwriters because that's seen as the most important skill for the mainstream scene. You can debate all day whether or not you think that's a great thing or not for pop music, but the impact is truly undeniable.

To this day, I just simply can't wrap my head around the online and critical reception of this album. So many amazing songs, so many ways to interpret them, so many emotions and lessons to get from them... She was truly in her bag.

I do think she's been wearing some kind of extensions for a few years. I was sort of hoping she'd lean into the hippiness/witchiness of it all and done a 70s rock/Stevie-inspired era. But I guess a change could be a good thing.

I mean, tbh I'm not sure I even want TS13 this year since I'm still a bit damaged by Showgirl and the (for me personally) lack of inspiration … Maybe do the Sheryl Crow/2000-All Saints rebirth in like late 2027/early 2027? It's kinda insane that anyone has the nerve to say Taylor lacks impact when she literally changed the mainstream pop superstar mold for the first time since Madonna. Nearly every Gen Z pop girl must style herself as a confessional songwriter. Billie, Chappell, Gracie, SZA, Olivia, Sabrina. It has even affected the men and Taylor's contemporary peers! By far the biggest and most universal change to the mainstream pop star mold since Madonna and MJ. Along with her music, THAT is her legacy. And that's a real ****ing legacy to leave.

And if we really wanna go there, the teenage/very early adult girls writing about their own lives are now being taken seriously, which was definitely not the case back then.

I think Gaga along with Taylor can be considered the only artist to have had an impact on other pop stars' careers comparable to Madonna's in the 80s. We can see how pop stars' aesthetics, music videos, and sound shifted after Lady Gaga's The Fame, and we can observe changes in songwriting specifically regarding the importance of storytelling, personal writing, and the management of a major pop era following RED and 1989.

I think that's fair. Though I'd say the "Gaga effect" was more of a moment in time than an actual recalibration. But it was extremely obvious on every then-pop star from Nicki and Katy to Bey and Xtina. Though you could also rightly point out that Gaga was sorta reviving the Madonna-print while Taylor caused a longterm actual recalibration on what we consider a modern pop star to be.

I completely agree on this point; I think the phenomenon of female pop artists writing songs about their personal lives and having the courage to pen lyrics that are raw and pointed is something unprecedented prior to Taylor Swift. She literally shifted the paradigm, shattered stereotypes, and broke down the music industry's barriers

She may not be making headline PR stunt level actions for the movement, but by completely owning her femininity and treating her men as equals, she's modeling what feminism strives for. Owning your power while not diminishing the power of men solely because of their gender (although if you're a bag of crap, you'll get it regardless of your gender).

She lacks inter-sectionalism to be the face of the movement.

For some reason, the tour performance of Back To December was the first time I ever encountered a live performance of Taylor. That's so random. But thank god.
