2nd gen numbers in general are horrible compared to the following Kpop generations, but G-Dragon was able to adapt to this new era and compete with popular 3rd and 4th gen groups.

 

G-Dragon is probably the only 2nd gen act that can debut with 1M streams right now for example

SNSD vs BIGBANG is like Taylor Swift and Drake (prior to Eras)

 

Drake had more digital achievements and always seemed to smash digitally no matter the quality of his music but Taylor was still the bigger celebrity to the GP.

 

Even other girl groups were doing better than SNSD digitally but that didn't make them bigger than SNSD as celebrities.

I'm not acting neutral. Miss @Eternium is an extremely knowledgeable authority on kpop and one of the few people on here I always believe at face value but they have a dragon shaped blind spot. I was @'ing them to agree with you.

well he isn't outside of Korea and a few Asian countries  

 

doesn't mean he's not super successful, especially for a 2nd gen idol and there is no other person on his level in Korea so it's all good?

Those few Asian countries represent a massive portion of the human population that casts a wider net than anybody in this century except Taylor Swift. No active 21st century recording artist comes close to him in celebrity status other than the exception I just named. There is no kpop craze without GD it really is that simple.
