Are we now arguing that polls are more reflective of reality than sales and touring, or that there could never be a better sample size than the entire general public? 

 

The only silver lining for SNSD in this comparison is that GD is barely an idol, so they are still #1 to some.

GD's status in Korea is no longer than those of an idol and I think it's also majority comes from the fact he was able to cultivate his artistry earlier in his career.

 

Whether you're a fan or not, you can call his music and performances as garbage but his one of the foundations of the industry, there are many things this newer idols enjoys today that can be attributed to him and that deserves some respect

He isn't and he will never have the global popularity nor name recognition that they achieved worldwide. Glad to see him doing well without Seungri, but he's got about a decade of hits to catch up to before he gets to their level.
