GD is local but Power immediately become a year end charting hit in China and the biggest country in the world reversed it's kpop ban the week he announced a world tour. Okay. 

 

Nile Rodgers demanded a ft credit when he produced Le Sserafim's title track but didn't demand anything for a GD b-side.

 

He's on a different level to idols. He actually has fame and respect that reaches beyond weaboos and incels.

Guys I have a genuine question coming from someone who's been into K-Pop since 2008/9:

How and when did we go from 300k sales (ex. SNSD's I GOT A BOY) being incredible to nowadays 1M+ sales? 

damn I swear that OG kpop stans are so insuferable sometimes 

 

anyone dare to say anything slightly unfavorable (not even bad) about 2nd gen idol or group and the fight will start right away 

 

not to mention how nasty and entitled they can be when speaking about the newer groups

cbars are the answer you're looking for. After EXO did 1m with the first album it became a competition for which fanbase could artificially inflate sales the most. 

 

2nd Gen fandoms looked down on this practice(we still do behind closed doors ) so our favs were stuck behind the times for a long time.

 

Then we exploded past that 1m being impressive mark when kpop starting being widely distributed in the west.
