An idol's biggest competition is usually their own members, not other groups. Chaewon must have been relieved knowing she'd likely get more lines and screen time than she did in a 12-member group. That clearly worked in her favor. she became the group's most popular member (If Garam was still in that wouldn't be the case) . If the visual members were been more competent vocally, she could've ended up in a situation where she carried a lot of the singing but didn't get the recognition, like what happened to Soyeon in T-ara. i wouldn't surprised if H2H, BM and all above 5 members group secretly wishing for a garam/soojin situation
