Can Lizzo bounce back from this?

Featured Replies

Whether she's guilty or not, seems like the world has already made up its mind - she's officially cancelled. And knowing how cruel the industry is to female artists- most especially to black, plus sized female artist, imo, I don't see a bounce back happening for Miss Maam. Thoughts?

If this is Chris Brown, Morgan or Travis, people will forget this happened in 3 months.. But sadly, it's tough for women.

Image-wise? I really don't see how that could happen. Career-wise is also tricky, most of the people that support her music are those that disavow the things she's accused of. While I may be wrong, I think it's over for her as far as the kind of success she's had with her last two eras.

They’re men, and not overweight like Lizzo. You’re kidding yourself thinking she’s bouncing back effortlessly after this + a string of nonevent releases. She’s as good as over commercially.

Black + Fat + Woman= Over

This is AmeriKKKa ya’ll. If Lizzo was white, or skinny, these ppl would give her benefit of the doubt.

I can see her being back with a radio hit like About Damn Time in 2025

Only time will tell, but judging by the statement she released disparaging the victims and her decision to hire Bill Cosby's lawyer... I would say no. I don't see this going over very well with her fan base.

I doubt it. She only got lucky this time around bc her single got pushed hard on tiktok…

I dunno… This situation is making me think of Chrisette Michele and we all know what happened to her. :doc:

I think so. Demi survived yogurt-gate, so Lizzo will be fine.

The 2 situations are not even close to comparable.

Only if the GP forgets this, considering their attention span… they will.

I want to say yes, but only if it's found that the dancers are lying or exaggerating. I know a few people adjacent to her team/dancers and it HONESTLY looks like the dancers are disgruntled and exaggerating their claims to fulfill a narrative and to earn them a big payout. I honestly don't believe these "victims".

I hope she does. Regardless of how she acts behind the scenes we need more people spreading Lizzo-type messaging with their celebrity. If men who contribute nothing can bounce back Lizzo deserves a full rebound.

I don't know, maybe yes maybe not. I think her songs are not famous because of her fan base, she still can get hits going viral on TikTok or something like that. though talking about touring plus her core base it will be very hard to get through it.
