Can Lizzo bounce back from this?

If this is Chris Brown, Morgan or Travis, people will forget this happened in 3 months.. But sadly, it's tough for women. :dies:

Lizzo's in a tricky position because these things are at complete odds with her audience. Chris Brown however survived off of a toxic hetero audience & peers. There is still much of the GP on the progress side that refuse to use his music. Lizzo kind of depends on her progress fans & radio, yet they're the ones that drop you after incidences like this.

Morgan called his friend a slur when drunk, really isn't compared to what Lizzo's accused of.

  • I hope she does. Regardless of how she acts behind the scenes we need more people spreading Lizzo-type messaging with their celebrity. If men who contribute nothing can bounce back Lizzo deserves a fu

Honestly we should keep a tab on her streams and that should be telling

People like Chris Brown and Travis Scott are doing fine after all the **** they've been involved in so yeah :deadbanana4:

Their fanbases don't give a crap about their behavior, no matter how crap they are. They encourage it by defending them because they like their music.

Lizzo's fanbase was made of women and queer individuals, I don't think 10% of it was even straight male.

tbh I feel like Lizzo kinda has the same target audience as people like P!nk, Sam Smith and Kelly Clarkson. White liberal wine moms who listen to their music to feel hip but they don't really know what goes on with their personal lives or careers, most gay people I know find Lizzo corny.

I doubt it. She only got lucky this time around bc her single got pushed hard on tiktok…

This. Even without this controversy the writing was on the wall for Lizzo, ABT might have been a hit but the album was a bomb

She has to rely on the GP now. The Gp doesn’t really care about these stuff. Of you have a well promoted banger song, you will still smash.

But yeah, I don’t see her building a fanbase that will stick to her and buy her songs/albums whether they’re good or bad

Demi survived yogurt-gate, so Lizzo will be fine.

Oh? :thing:

She has no fanbase and never did. Her hits are all radio/GP driven and her albums do no numbers. So no.

Chris Brown, Travis, Morgan, etc. all have very dedicated fanbases that allowed them to rebound and block any real cancellation. And im Chris’ case it took him 3+ years for him to find radio success again after the beating incident.

Worse things have happened in the music biz and many have bounced back. I don’t see why not.

she is not the first nor will be the last people trying to make money off of.

not defending her cause majority of these celebs we put on a pedestal on here pretend they’re humble just so they can have a following, but yeah just saying.

She was lucky that ADT went viral because the last era already looked awful for her, so I don't think this will impact her much. She struggled aleady.

Yes.

All she needs is an acclaimed turn in Funny Girl on broadway

Isn't the key difference between Chris Brown, Morgan Wallen, Travis Scott the fact that they don't go around preaching to everybody, telling people they need to change their beliefs, telling people that they need to behave better. They're not advocating to the public that they should rewire their brains until they become sexually attracted to people that they find repulsive. Chris Brown and Morgan Wallen don't go around "educating" men about how they've been "manipulated" by the media to get erections when they see petite women. Lizzo HAS to be held to a very high standard, because she's asking a LOT of us.

Lizzo doing things like this (if the accusations are true), is Earth-shattering for someone who we are supposed to respect, trust, listen to and admire. She is encouraging us to change our beliefs, to be more like her. This is the reason people like priests are held to a higher standard. If a priest has an affair for example, they are held to a higher standard than your average man, and in a lot of cases they do get cancelled and replaced. But your typical builder or whatever wouldn't because they're not going around preaching to people telling people how to live their lives.

Even if she's not guilty, she's done. She's a woman, a black one at that. We know how things work... :doc:

I don't think she is over but this has definitely damaged her image and she will need to re-brand away from the self-love/positivity angle, as people won't buy what she's selling there now.

Her next album being super vulnerable and opening up about her mistakes would be ideal rather than more of the "look how confident I am let's have a good time and love ourselves!" theme.  An album where she discusses being a perfectionist to the point of unintentionally disrespecting people who work for her would show a lot of growth. I don't think she is evil but is unaware of how her behavior creates an uncomfortable work environment.

The worst thing she could do next era is an angry album lashing out at people.

I think it's funny how now that sh*t has officially hit the fan, everyone is just focusing on the lawsuit and these two girls, but not:

1. The Oscar nominated director who dropped out of Lizzo's documentary voluntarily because of Lizzo's abuse and narcissistic behaviour

2. Her former creative director Quinn Wilson who left her team THREE YEARS AGO because of the abuse

3. Quinn Wilson's partner King Princess saying she witnessed the abuse and backed up all of Quinn's claims

4. Her former stylist Marko Monroe liking tweets dragging Lizzo's behaviour

5. The fact that not a SINGLE CELEBRITY has made a show of support for Lizzo

Like.... it's pretty f*cking clear that Lizzo is a monster :biblio:

Lizzo’s audience is “progressive” - or at least they confuse their moral high ground with it. They are mostly white libs, female. We’ve seen them every time she wanted to lose weight and they would go after her. She would need the industry to back her up, put her in other people’s songs and push her hard to the GP. I don’t see it. The lack of support is telling. It’s easier for them to push someone younger to fill her gap. She already seemed on her way out last era, with “About Damn Time” being a sort of fluke that saved “Special” from flopping. She was also a very divisive figure for black women. On one hand some felt represented, but plenty felt she was stereotypical (more aggressive words were employed) and that whites wanted to push her as the image of black women instead of others. Many complicated layers. I don’t think she will have the hetero and black community to fall back upon like Chris did

in theory yes, but it'll be an uphill battle. some artists have gotten away with worse, but lizzo's image is built around inclusivity and niceness so these allegations are going to be extra difficult to beat. i think if her next song is really good and catchy she'll be forgiven.

girl priests literally abuse and molest children and get away with it...

Well it depends on if the lawsuit is proven true. i hope it isnt- i really like Lizzo and I just dont want to attach all that to her.
