still using my iphone 13 pro max because i kept waiting on them to change the design (plus it would've been wasteful to replace it)

now they have and i hate it :rip:

So as a general user who's not spec obsessed, the major difference between a non-pro and pro version is the telephoto camera :deadbanana2:

Basically, yeah :skull:

Does the base model have the camera button on the side? It looks like it in the pics, but apple makes no mention of it.

Yes it does, they didn't mention it because it was the main feature of last year's lineup

Get excited for Liquid Ass later today everyone

Jokes aside I actually really like it, I'm excited to try it out! With the sort of light presence of skeuomorphism inherent to the whole thing, without being as overbearing and disorganized as the original iOS design, I think it manages to feel fresh but still balanced. A part of why I like Apple products is the graphic design - the consistency, simplicity, straightforwardness, and familiarity. This doesn't feel like it compromises on any of those, thankfully.

But also, given that sort of pseudo-skeuomorphism, I feel like part of what they're going for this year is a little bit of a subconscious retro, throwback kind of feeling, if you also look at the iPhone Air. While they're marketing that as "what the future feels like," I've seen a ton of people call it things like "the first iPhone that feels like a real new iPhone in years" since it's the first significant form factor redesign since maybe the iPhone 12 bringing the flatter-edged "glass sandwich" design style back. I think you pair that with Liquid Glass and you get something that sort of subtly evokes the aesthetic reputation of older Apple generations, while still feeling modern or even futuristic. Kind of a neat little pair to have because of that - I think they'll go really well together. I think the added sense of depth to Liquid Glass will also neatly contrast the sheer thinness of the Air, too.

But I'll be trying it out on my iPhone 16e at first. :rip:

I have 14 pro max which was my first iPhone. For some reason iPhone Air is calling my name. I prefer a larger screen so I'd never get the regular iPhone. But I'm kinda over this heavy ass phone but I don't want to lose the 2 cameras and having 1 speaker. The battery is apparently on par with iPhone 16 pro series so that shouldn't be a worry.

Just updated my 13 Pro Max to iOS26 and my phone is not having it. :deadbanana: It's so laggy and it's literally got to the touch. Is there a way to go back to a previous OS?

The way they abandoned Apple Intelligence when everyone realized they got scammed the first time. :deadbanana2:

It might still improve - things are still processing in the background after an update usually. My 16e also had a few issues at first.

Yeah it's working a lot better now. Still feels a little hot when I'm running certain apps but hopefully that goes away. :skull:

Transition from One More Time (Kylie) to Everybody (Nicki Minaj) was diabolical :rip:

My issues with iOS 26:

My phone was overheated for hours. It only now just started cooling off within the past hour :rip:

The wallpaper/widget theme I had via Widgy is ugly now. The update removed the color from the widget, and I can't get it back :biblionny: removed the widget and changed my wallpaper for now.

DO NOT UPDATE TO IOS 26

It's a ******* mess on my 16.

Who approved this junky software update, I wanna know! The home screen has at least 3 visible bugs that can be found within 10 sec of using it. :skull:

The auto mix feature is TERRIBLE. It doesn't work most of the times, and when it does it's just a lazy slow/speed distortion. It also cuts like 45 seconds of the following song. They can't be serious. :ahh:

Pretty sure Spotify has had something similar for years and it works better (but still messy). I remember trying before AI was even a thing. Apple is so behind everything.

The ad block and other extensions on Safari are also buggy.

I've been on 26 for 10 minutes and I hate it already. They better patch this **** quickly.

Thanks for the heads up. Guess I'll wait for IOS 26.1 to be released before updating :katie:

iOS 26 has been fine for me on my 13 Pro Max. I even updated at work yesterday over 5G and away from a power outlet. The only issue I've noticed, UI wise, is that when Face ID fails, the screen is just blank. There's no "failed" animation. Idk if that's intentional or not. My battery is also about the same as it always is at this time of day (10pm, off charger around 6am, currently 47%). I do like how we can change the size of the time font on the lock screen tho. At least for 1 font option
