The colors on the new iPhone 18 pro look beautiful. I really liked the design when it debuted with the 17 pro but the difference on the back looked too jarring for my liking. These new ones however are perfect for me!

I have the 16 pro now which still works perfectly so I'll probably just wait until next year when they release new phones and the 18 pro will go for cheaper to get it.

I read about this rumor but I'm not really convinced, assuming they manage to fix the Air "flaws" it got criticized for, so putting at least two cameras, extending the battery capacity and putting a stereo speaker with managing to keep the same thin size of the first, it would basically become more premium than the Pro line and I can't see a phone with those features and material (reminder that it's in titanium) in that size being sold for the same range price of the base 17, but not even same price of the Pro line..

yeah i think they can manage the air to be a little bit cheaper, just like Macbook Air during the launch of its new chassis which started at 1199, then 1099, then 999

so they might be able to make that iPhone Air at 899 then 799? which is the price of the base iPhone 17?

either they choose the battery or the speaker, but either they might choose the speaker if they still want to keep the same thinness. if they can make the iPhone 18 Air 6.5mm thin (base iPhone 17 is 8mm thin), then it is still thin enough to fit bigger battery. because the base iPhone 17 screen on time is 8 hours full day while the 17 Air is only at 5 hours.

you are right it will cannibalize the 18 Pro, it seems they can make the iPhone 18 Air with the following: with aluminum chassis to make it cheaper, since this is a refreshed unit they can produce it in lower pricing. the trade off would be, slower chip than the 18 pro maybe binned? but still with extra camera (this one cannot be without it will just make the Air line have much underwhelming sales than the first), the speaker and battery seems to be optional over (tho i prefer the battery even with an increase of thinness more than the current 5.5mm)

I think the air in alluminium would have issues of possible bending, one of the strong feat of the air it's the strongness of titanium that made it extremely resistant to bend, maybe I'm wrong but I feel like it woudn't be convenient for them doing that, I mean changing the base 17 and making it similar to the air, especially considering the iPhone 17 base has been a best seller with the add of Promotion, better battery duration and stereo speaker, while the Air was rejected by the general audience, imo the Air fits more a niche audience in the same way of the Apple Watch Ultra and they should maintain the actual lineup.

exactly so i was wondering the rumors of them removing the base and making it an Air, rather have them make it a budget through the Neo line

Who's updating to iOS 27

I've had the Airpods Pro 3 since they came out, but for the past month or so, the left one has been deteriorating. Initially, it developed a static/windy sound, though I read to "suck" on the speaker and that would fix it (it did, temporarily). Since then, the volume has lowered significantly. The only way I can hear anything is if I slide the Balance toggle to the left, but obviously, that lowers the volume in the right AirPod. With that being said, I'm over it. I see the Airpods 5 are only $150. I've only been using Pro models since 2020, but it seems the base models have had a lot of significant upgrades over the years. Should I get them?

So... I caved and I have setup my pre-order for the iPhone Duo. I went to Best Buy the other day and played around with the Galaxy Fold 8 and fell in love with the form factor. From what the web is saying, the Fold 8's form factor is very similar to how the iPhone Duo feels in the hand, though I do like the sharp, full square look and feel of the Fold 8 more. I also imagine the Duo being released will push more developers to ensure their apps adapt to the foldable form factor, and Apple's software takes the duo screen to a new level.

I've decided to trade in my current 17 Pro Max and then lease the Duo through Apple for $18 a month for the next year. This way, if I don't like it, I'll just switch back to a regular iPhone next year, but if I do like it and the Duo succeeds, I'll then just easily upgrade to the Duo 2. :)

Curious how the new HomeView will do. I'm not buying one personally as I'm not into the smart home stuff, but that kind of thing is super popular in the US.

It seems like every other house here has a doorbell camera, smart lock, and Amazon Echo or Google Nest (which is what the HomeView is competing with). The former two have less privacy than a comparable Apple product would. Given all the Flock/Ring backlash, I wonder if that's enough to move a lot of people from those systems to Apple's.

But the latter is more expensive and has a much less extensive smart home ecosystem than Google or Amazon. People may also not want the inconvenience of switching. We shall see. The HomeView does seem a bit half-baked, but maybe future versions will be more user-friendly.

I will say that partnering with LG (which is currently getting backlash for spying on people through their TVs) on home security stuff was absolutely idiotic and something they should have done in-house instead. The Apple TV price hike is asinine as well

The Duo selling out

For that price the new Apple tv is not worth if you already have the last generation or I would just wait for a discount in the future since the third generation is still perfect and fast for a streaming box, the upgrade won't be noticeable, however it's one of the best and most underrated Apple device so I would definitely spend those money if I didn't own the previous generation already.

They smartly and rightfully produced less lot Duo units compared to the other models also in comparison of the Air last year, making it limited was the only way to give more exclusivity and success to that model, now that it takes 3 months of waiting to have it, it will increase the demand even more.

Reviews are out. Fanboys are having a meltdown and regretting their preorder.

Like it happened with the iPhone X apps are gonna eventually be optimized with time so not big deal, for the rest given the Air reception/issues, I'm not surprised this one has similar problems like the sound quality, like it has been said plenty of times first generation Apple products rarely ends up perfect immediately.

Right now I would find more convenient buying a 18 pro and iPad pro with those money.

Realistically the only scenario for which I see this phone being really useful is for those people who read ebooks or watch movies/videos while on train/bus on their phone.

After watching some unboxings I am still excited for my Duo. The biggest issue for me is APP optimization but hopefully developers will fix it asap.

I think the biggest thing that bothered people was the fact it only houses 2 sensors and uses an iPhone 17e sensor (which isn't even true). Both of the sensors look almost indistinguishable from the 18 Pro until you need to zoom. The lack of telephoto is problematic if my greedy fave charges $1000 for lower bowl seats next tour, but other than that... I use the telephoto and ProRAW/Res like 1% of the time? A big nothingburger.

The Touch ID latency and app optimization will be worked out over time like whatever. What they should get LASHED for is their obsession with making their products heavier than Nicki at a buffet, which is clearly the most noticeable thing as a daily driver. Everything else is as expected, I didn't think the nano texture would be raved about like this though. I feel like reviewers have a magnifying glass nitpicking on this moreso than it's competitors because of the buzz. This is still the best foldable out.
