that's why i think they edited it 2 minutes before venice. i bet the first idea was for lee to "cure" Arthur out of joker persona, and let me believe that because that's my only reasoning behind everything that went down

I'm still trying to figure out if she herself was mentally ill or if she was playing all along? They make it seem like she was playing all along, but she seemed very mentally ill. And was she actually pregnant or was that a lie?

She def. needed more backstory.

I don't know if they would be able to make that change last minute without basically reshooting everything? I don't recall there being news of many, if any reshoots? I think that would've been more interesting and probably would've made them have to give Lee an actual story.  

 

I think ultimately the studio got cold feet and thought there wasn't enough Joker and so they cut Gaga. Why Warner Bros would do that after the success they've had with Gaga, we'll never know.

Something tells me JFAD was supposed to be that vehicle to boost her presence even by just a little but it didn't do that. 

 

She's relying solely on the success of DWAS, the viral hits she's gained, the small Harlequin boost, and the media appearances for JFAD and Harlequin to leverage an LG7 comeback. 

 

Will this be enough for a "smash" first-week for LG7? I don't really think so. I think we should expect something in the 200k+ range but not be too down if we see something in the 150K to 180K range.

Honestly? She should be aiming for above 200k. After a five year wait between albums, the advantage of a long preorder window (we assume), and coming off a mega smash hit single (even if it's not on the album, makes no difference to the average Joe), things are lined up for her, even if JFAD bombed. 
 

She should be maximising bundles and formats and everything other artists do - we should expect a lot from her, she has a huge dedicated fanbase, she just needs to work at it to open as big as she can.

I dragged Grace a bit earlier in the thread, but to be fair to her, if you do catch any of her earlier videos on the topic of JFAD, she had expressed excitement at her participation in the movie, and she's stanned HoG multiple times on her channel and praised her as an actress, she also noted her talents today on twitter. (Although in the same sentence she basically said she's casting poison, mind you. ) But she has this pattern of doing this to actresses where when they start to not do too well, or they're in panned movies, or some sort of scandal in the media effects them, she tends to have a bit of an extremist opinion. For years she was trying to tell her followers that Jessica Chastain objectively couldn't act. Like have your opinions or whatever, but she went a bit too far with her.  

I thought the 'walking out' stuff was overexaggerating but I went last night and it did indeed happen throughout 

People are saying that Gaga isn't doing the rehearsed crazy interviews this time but I think this is her most calculated movie campaign yet.

 

Between repeating the anecdote of Joaquin forcing her not to sing right but saying she still did for some takes anyway to give Todd more to work with, the comments about Joaquin rewriting the script, the way she looks more uncomfortable around Joaquin than the interviewers she's snapped at in the past, getting members of her music family on-set to surround her(in a potentially hostile environment), and putting out a FULL album from the perspective of her Harley she's very clearly trying to air her grievances with Joaquin and making it known that the whole mess is his fault and not Toad's.

I wish they would give a specific number instead of just 400k as I was using that to track its WW SPS. But that would be around 2.7 million WW units if I just add 400k to last week's total (though that seems low tbh). 
 

edit: especially since Billboard had the song at 4.6 million WW units last week using the RIAA formula.

Should she be aiming for 200K and does she really still have the fanbase that expects a lot from her? 

 

I think the Chromatica era really drew a lot of fans away. Too many broken promises, lack of enthusiasm on her part, all the brand deals, etc. I think her core fanbase has weakened in power and the shadow of LG6 will forever linger. I don't doubt LG7 will have a good first week, but I think we'll be LIMPING to 200K.

She's the type of artist that can get away with long waits between albums, but this time, she does't have an ASIB or an Oscar moment to generate the hype to maximize the potential of an era. Again, she will sell well first week. She just needs that special moment that truly brings the hype for her next project and push first-week sales. 

 

JFAD bombed so what are we really left with? That combination of DWAS, a few media appearances, Harlequin, and her newfound virality is not enough in my opinion. She had the world's eyes on her with ASIB's success and her Oscar moment. She hasn't captured that attention, not even close. 

 

Combine this with a weakened core fanbase due to her own apathy for her pop career and well...I have to temper expectations. For me personally, it seems the hype for LG7 isn't what it was for LG6.

 

The current hype she's generated is not enough for 200K or 200K+.
