This is such bullshit. The occasional Gaga fan wrongly attacking/criticizing Meghan Trainor for her surrogacy does not mean "Little Monsters were attacking Meghan". Your comment here posits you think that was wrong, so surely you think it's also wrong for people to do the same to Gaga... unless you believe in some kind of twisted logic where "Gaga deserves it because of what strangers on the Internet said," which is just insane if you're over the age of 12. And then bringing up Palestine because of surrogacy makes even less sense. And suspicious ties to Israel is literally not a thing. Her and every other Dem like her (mostly centrists) need to be shunned from the party. I know it won't happen, but it's the only way to move forward. Oh, stop it lol. People were attacking her for surrogacy. They weren't doing the usual silly attacks about "flopping" or charting... they were attacking a very sensitive topic (fertility) that negatively impacts a ton of people. This is one of the few things Gaga fans have a legitimate reason to fight back on. The only people in the wrong here are the people virtue signaling and using someone's venture into motherhood as an attack. You can joke about a lot of things, but some of you need to know where to draw the line. You're all grown-ass adults.

One thing I noticed on Twitter was that a lot of the criticism seemed to be coming from Spanish-speaking users, and it made me realize that surrogacy is probably viewed very differently in other countries and cultures. As an admittedly ignorant American, that honestly wasn't something I had given much thought to before. Surrogacy has never really been presented here as some inherently sinister or exploitative practice, especially when it's done through established legal and medical channels. So I can completely understand why someone living in a country where surrogacy has a very different history, legal framework, or reputation might have strong feelings about it. That's a legitimate conversation to have. What I don't understand is automatically taking those experiences and applying them to Gaga's situation in the U.S. as though every surrogacy arrangement is identical. That's where the conversation starts becoming ridiculous to me. Obviously, none of us know every private detail of the arrangement, but acting as though Gaga casually wandered into some exploitative situation with no lawyers, doctors, safeguards, consent, or process involved is incredibly disingenuous. There would have been an entire legal and medical framework surrounding something like this, with protections and agreements in place for everyone involved. And knowing what we know about Gaga as a person, I find it very difficult to believe she would knowingly participate in something she felt was unethical or harmful to the surrogate. People are free to criticize surrogacy as a broader institution, but inventing the worst possible version of her individual situation and then condemning her for that imaginary scenario just feels like virtue signaling. There's a huge difference between saying, "I have ethical concerns about surrogacy," and saying, "Therefore Gaga must have exploited a woman." The first is a discussion. The second is just an accusation dressed up as morality. And watching people now tie this all to Zionism somehow... we've jumped the shark here lol.

Well, it's Gaga, so the mods/admins obviously aren't going to shut this stuff down the way they probably would if it were about certain other pop stars lol. The reality is that Gaga has been a punching bag for stans since around 2013, and it only got worse when A Star Is Born gave her another huge career resurgence in 2018. Some stans genuinely cannot stand the fact that she's still here, still successful, and still relevant after spending years insisting she would "only last a few years." Why her continued success bothers them this much, I genuinely don't know. I said this in the Gaga base, but at this point I don't even think it's about charts, sales, money, or awards. Some people genuinely seem to hate seeing her happy. They dislike her so much that even the idea of her being fulfilled in her personal life seems to set them off. I honestly don't think I've ever seen that level of resentment directed at another pop star, and it's incredibly strange. As people have already said, there is absolutely a broader conversation to be had about surrogacy, particularly when it involves different countries, laws, and ethical concerns. But ATRL is probably the last place capable of having that conversation with any real nuance. Everything immediately gets reduced to stan wars. What we do know is that Gaga clearly did not choose surrogacy for "shits and giggles." She has a long-documented history of chronic illness and physical health problems, and she's 40 years old. Considering how traditional she has always seemed when it comes to family and how openly she has talked about wanting to become a mother, I seriously doubt this was some casual decision. It seems pretty reasonable to assume that if carrying a pregnancy herself had been a safe and realistic option, she probably would have preferred that. The way some people on this forum have talked about the entire situation has honestly been disturbing. It really puts into perspective how completely detached stan culture can become from basic empathy. People say things they know would be considered vile in almost any normal social setting, but because it's framed as a "stan attack," suddenly anything goes. And unless the mods actually decide to draw a line somewhere, it's obviously going to continue. Everything becomes ammunition. Every personal situation becomes an opportunity to say the cruelest thing possible because people have convinced themselves that stan culture somehow makes it acceptable. It's different when a celebrity does something objectively wrong or immoral, but we're talking about becoming a mother here. If you were to show a regular person some of the things being said here and then told them "these are the responses to a woman becoming a mother," they would be gobsmacked. Meanwhile, outside of these little online bubbles, the overwhelming reaction has been positive because most normal people simply see someone who has wanted to be a mother for years finally getting that opportunity. The contrast between that and some of the reactions on here is pretty telling.

She was in California using their high gases prices as an example of this administration's failure when she was once part of the club who was like, "your prices are higher because you're in a liberal state." Both women are no longer in Congress and yet it's MTG who is using her platform to go after Republicans and Trump, all while Crockett stands on stage with an abuser so she can get some attention. How are you getting outflanked by the woman who helped start this all?
