The albums are not the problem is how she handles them, she just gives up on them as a fan it can be really frustrating.

But she said she is in a different mind space for lg7 so she better not half ass this time

Rumors swirling that Joaquin requested Gaga scenes to be cut

Joaquin Phoenix enemy of the gays

:suburban:

We already knew this.

Industry actually panning Joaquin and Todd not Gaga, so i dont really give a f about RT score.

Honestly we are the coolest fanbase. No other stan base would be laughing off this level of floppage  the way we are; even joining in by poking fun at our fave. Some stan bases indulge in cult like worshipping of their favorite and anyone poking fun is banished. Thanks for being the way (most of) you'll are. It's like we all know that in the end Gaga will not only survive this but thrive as a pop and movie star.

Honestly I feel like most of the criticisms could have been addressed by redoing the biggest flaw with the first movie and beating you over the head with the fact that Lee was calculated and 100% the antagonist of this story. A montage of her studying the TV movie to plan her infiltration into his life would have done more to wrap things up than what we know was shot and cut. But then again this was one of the things that made it feel the most like a comic book movie to me the first time around, we knew from the first 20 minutes of Joker that he hallucinated relationships with people, we didnt need it to be shown, then explained, then shown again that his relationships to his neighbor or the Waynes were fake, the filmmaking was strong enough to stand without it and I believe it was here too. I guess it could have made it more digestible though, people are definitely taking the wrong messages away from this one. I thought Joaquin's performance was top tier even for him and effortlessly conveyed all of this stuff without the typical superhero movie dialogue where the plot is explained to you instead of acted out.

I still feel very strongly that a big musical sequence at the end would have been antithetical to both characters because it would mean that Arthur is still struggling to see reality or that Lee wasn't calculated the whole time and was just as crazy as him. I would really really love to see it included as a bonus on streaming or the physical release though because it looked like the centerpiece of the film.

Spoiler

Her studying of the Joker movie would've been an EXCELLENT addition, great point.

I have no notes on any of the performances really. Joaquin's was almost as good as the first movie, which is truly one of the greatest film performances of the 21st century so far. Gaga was impeccable too, I agree with those saying it's her best on screen performance yet. Shame that even better scenes were left on the cutting room floor.

I get your point about a final musical performance however I think it could've been directed in a way that still keeps that dynamic of Lee's calculation. She could have used the final performance to manipulate him into thinking they were going to run away together before the cops come to arrest him and he realizes it was all a lie. Again, would have been a much more entertaining and satisfying journey to get to the same end result.

Regardless, the vagueness of the visitor coming to see was going to be interpreted as Lee anyway, hence alluding to the possibility she actually cared about him. With that open plot point still being present, I don't think that performance on the stairs would've detracted from her manipulativeness or implied that she was just as crazy as him.

I mean… if DWAS wasn't the biggest song in the world right now, i don't think we would be like we're right now.

Its a weird feeling. We are facing the biggest flop of Gaga's career and also, the biggest WW smash HIT since Flowers, at the same time.

LG7 will be the final factor

Edited by Nando_05

As it's confirmed that several Lee scenes that we've seen paparazzi footage of have been cut, it's pretty easy for '' the streets '' to come up with a rumor that someone thought there was too much Gaga in the movie. And with Joaquin backing out of another movie last minute, it can certainly feed into a rumor of diva-esque behavior from his part. But Joaquin and Gaga seem to be cordial enough that it feels a bit weird to trust rumors like that at this point. Of course they could just be faking a good relationship, but I don't think Joaquin would come to her Harlequin listening party if that was the case.

What is quite sad though is to see how Gaga is pulling all the stops to promo this movie all by her lonesome... for the most part anyway. It seems like only she is interested in the movie anymore, but perhaps it only seems that way because this isn't the Todd or Joaquin base, so we don't follow their promo tours as closely.

what i was thinking coming to this base, after having a terrible day:deadbanana2:

i will watch JFAD no matter what, i will enjoy happy mistake and its live performances i will enjoy DWAS smashing #1 bc she is part of it. and i will stan LG7 LEAD this month.:clap3:

and good morning good morning to yall

To me it feels more like she's in it for the album and not the movie but she's just throwing movie promo into it as an added bonus because, like, why not? :rip: WB dropped the ball with the promo and she has no control over that so she's switched to do something for the album she made.

You guys are allergic to not being hyperbolic. :deadbanana:

Were you around during ARTPOP? Gaga was experiencing what Katy is experiencing now. This li'l side project is nothing close to what she was getting during ARTPOP.

The rotten score is kind of iconic this is how a cult classic is born

so what happened to the 12 minute standing ovation at the Film festival?

AP was 10000000x worse than this.  The media has been praising Gaga left and right, the GP love and are obsessing with DWAS, and Gaga is seemingly at her happiest.  This flop narrative is really just coming from one or two salty fan bases, it doesn't translate to real world perception at all.

I can't believe Joker is actually her ARTPOP and her acting is saving the rating

I believe Chromatica just had more hype as she was coming off ASIB. SL still managed to debut #2 on US Spotify after a leak & Chromatica 275k first week.

But Chromatica era didn't do much goodwill to her image. It didn't do harm either, but it was just there. Even ROM is forgettable now.

And of course the other part of the picture is that she's waited 4.5 years to start another pop era. Yes, her catalog streams have been great, and BM went viral, but that doesn't translate to new era success (see Ocean Blvd).

She probably has a bit more hype now than going into Joanne, but still has until February to build the hype that she lost back up with at least one LG7 hit, preferably two before the album even drops.

I know a lot of things on this site are sarcasm and a kiki and a bit of fun, and I understand music is subjective and people shouldn't feel obliged to like all her releases, which is a bit of a hot topic right now with Harlequin lol. But if you've (not you specifically obviously - I'm generalising here) been following her career from day one, I'll genuinely never understand what about Chromatica or the era would make people jump ship. :deadbanana: It certainly wasn't her magnum opus (which btw I'm not sure that's something that's still to come anymore) but for what it was it wasn't a bad album, in my opinion, and she ticked some boxes even for the success stans and was working within the limits of a global pandemic to the best of her ability.

I kind of feel like anyone who's from around her time, or who has came before her, she's probably just reaching that stage in her career where her die-hards are of an age where they don't necessarily care how successful she is. It's clear she can still snag hits when the GP is interested in what she's doing, but when they're not (again see Harlequin) I think low-balling her numbers is probably the reality from now on.

ALSO, not that being a fan of someone should pressure them into overworking themselves, but in the Taylor Swift era of streaming, not many pop fans probably want to wait around for 5 years between albums. There's not much point harking on about the wait between Chromatica and LG7 now it's settled, but I still would stand by the point of saying it wasn't a great idea to wait that long in hindsight.

the album was good and the mvs were solid bar SL. It's the way she dropped the era due to covid and also just a lack of gneuinly wanting to work around the pandemic. Other things that must have hit the fan base were the constant ads that clashed with her image. Cupkake stands like to dismissve the impact of some of the backlash but it was grave enough especially with the nurtec ad that Gaga herself felt compelled to almost apologize to fans and tell them she had music coming very soon (which ended up also not being true). Things like that can turn off a lof fans. Luckily this fan base will probably turn out in droves for LG7 but for her side projects u can longer expect fans to carry her projects the same way they did back in the day. She will have to depend on the GP a lot more than she's ever had to in the past 10 years or so

JFad FLOPPED. There is no ifs ands or buts around it. it flopped.

but you know what? I'm happy it flopped. we were getting too comfortable with Gaga always being in Oscar buzz-worthy films. everything from ASIB has been acclaim acclaim acclaim. and it still is acclaim. her role in this movie is apparently being praised. So this is the best kind of floppage we can get. commercial bomb, but critical acclaim. because constantly talking about Oscars was just unrealistic. so let the floppage happen now, so we can get it out of the way. at least our fave has more acclaim than failures. imagine stanning other musical artists who have critical and commercial failures movie after movie, with the occassional success? Gaga is the opposite. this is the best seat to be in. our

This was Cher's life in 1996: I present to you, the critical and commercial failure film that is "Faithful"

Exactly. This is all proof that Gaga has reached a level of untouchable we never thought was possible.

It was the complete lack of passion on her end.  We know *as a fact* that she did not want to record an album, any album, at the point in her life.  She was very depressed, in pain from Fibro, and sold her IG page to random brands ranging from cookie companies to champagne to watches to supercars, etc.  She gave us Haus Labs like there was no tomorrow but couldn't post an at home acoustic performance of her music.  Even in her interview with Zane Lowe, you can hear her BSing her way through answers just because she felt like she needed to be there.  I don't even need to go into the ways she abandoned the era after ROM, the pre-recorded 911 MV, and contractual obligations to MTV.  It was, as a long time fan, the biggest let down I've experienced, and I was there during AP.  Chromatica was her worst era by far, even if it was relatively successful.

I got to my fad screening and my IMAX showing was just cancelled, they're moving us to a regular theater

Truly cursed for us liddos

I love that Kimmel asked her if DWAS was on Harlequin.

One of the premieres was actually cancelled because of Joaquin's antics unrelated to FAD. The industry is very tight-knit and his antics have put enough people out of work that large numbers of people at least know somebody who was negatively affected or even financially ruined because of him.

Gaga is campaigning almost completely by herself because it would be very very bad to be parading Joaquin around film press at current. WB keeping him at arms length and only showing when it would be rude not to was the only shot this film had at any sort of good reception but he's obviously tainted the well because the reviews are delusional.

If anything all of this is just strengthening her relationship with Warner for at least trying to steer a sinking ship in the correct direction.
