Black Parade is probably the best song shes ever recorded. She was on fire in that booth.

 

Her voice has never sounded more commanding and comfortable and im not sure all her fans like that.

I still get PTSD at the fact that she had the Grown Woman video for god knows how long showing it to everyone and their mama on her MacBook bc she wanted to release it when it felt ‘just right’.

Be Alive is god awful. Good message though.

 

Be alive and perfect duet are the only two Beyoncé songs I’ve ever not played at least 5 times. I truly dislike those songs.

She is and she's 100% not a yes man the way people wanna act. She's known Bey since Bey was 15... she is not afraid to get her together. She's like a second mother to her.

um ya Be Alive was my #1 most played song in 2021 despite coming out in Novemeber, and even I can admit it's not her greatest by a long shot. I really do enjoy it, I love the vibe, I love the energy, I love how she approached this song in a way one would not expect (relentlessly) but it surely doesn't stack up to BLACK PARADE which indeed is a masterpiece and I'm glad the Grammys were even able to recognize that.

 

And kinda unrelated BUT as far as soundtrack singles go, this should have been a hit:

 

 

 

BP slapped for me immediately but sometimes it does feel more like a checklist of references than a song, but I guess that's kinda the point anyway. That chorus is glorious though, I can never get enough of it.

I'm black (African at that) and didn't care for Black Parade, but it was for Juneteenth, which is obviously a holiday for black Americans, culture I'm not a part of.

 

I did love The Gift though, and the way she delved into the mythology, folklore and spirituality of ethnic groups like the Yoruba, Zulu, Igbo, Ashanti and Dogon. Beyoncé has an interesting fascination with the Yoruba peoples and being of Creole descent she more than likely is herself of Yoruba descent.

 

The Gift is in my Top 3 Beyoncé projects, and even though it didn't do well stateside, it did fantastically in countries like SA and especially Ghana and Nigeria. I wish those countries had official charts because the Gift was a bigger deal than people give it credit for.

The last time I saw it was still in the Top 15.  Radio is gonna help to keep the song afloat and hopefully improve the Spotify streams.

I generally hate any song she does that resembles mumble singing. Idk if it’s because her tone has changed since 2017 or I just want lighter vocals for once with an actual melody and catchy hook.
