She should just drop the visuals the night of the Grammys and not perform.

I don't think Beyoncé is winning AOTY, but even if she loses the award sitting front row AGAIN, best believe the moment her next album drops and wins universal acclaim the same Hive and Hive pages who no longer "care" for the Grammys, will once again make the AOTY nomination and win the centerfold of the era.

It's tired. Beyoncé has been doing her thing for 25 years, she's been a solo superstar for 20 and is one of, if not the most accomplished artist of her generation. An AOTY grammy will not and should not define her career, but this hyperfocus and obsession with this award is starting to overshadow Beyoncé's eras. EVERYTHING is about that AOTY, and it's tiring when that is the ONLY point of discussion come a Beyoncé album.

I stopped messing with the Grammy's YEARS ago, and after ST and Lemonade I'm still confused as to why some Hive members who routinely complain about the industry and its biases are still so obsessed with this award show.

The industry gave CARPOOL KAREOKE an Emmy over Homecoming, like this is who we know we're dealing with but it's the same thing every single time.

💚💚💚

Thank you! You articulated it so well.

I personally don't care if Beyoncé still cares about grammys. I am DONE with them. Lemonade sealed the deal for GOOD. Also I enjoy many artists and the grammy's nonsense is not limited to Beyoncé alone but to most black and other non white artists. It's whack. I wish we as a fan group didn't give a damn about that AOTY and not give the shammys any attention. But everyone is their own person and that is just wishful thinking on my part

At this point, the Hive are in an abusive relationship with the Grammys.

You're a side piece who's been waiting YEARS for him to leave his wife. He keeps telling you he will, but you know damn well it's not gonna happen because he doesn't want to lose his house and pay child support for those 3 kids.

Pick your dignity up off the floor, walk out the door and learn to love yourselves because it's not happening girl.

4 was the one glaring era, but a combo of Mathew leaving just before, her finding her feet managing herself, and then getting pregnant mid-era doesn't scream "label screwing me over" to me.

Columbia is the reason 4 leaked a month early. Someone put it on a not-private server.

She noticeably pulled away from them after that, focusing on running things from her imprint at Parkwood, which is why Columbia didn’t even know about self titled until it was ready.

Taylor won AOTY three times :skull:

I get Fearless and folklore receiving that award, but 1989 over TPAB? That blasfemy was even worse to accept than 25 winning over Lemonade.

This is where my head is at. :giraffe:
Mr @Planet Mars is right, but like someone else said, there’s not much else for us to talk about besides rumored tour announcements. After Dubai, the Grammys is the next major music milestone. If she shows up, it makes it all the more relevant.

Here’s the thing @Planet Mars, if she stopped showing up to the Grammys like Drake and ‘em, I have full confidence the Hive would stop caring. But as long as she attends, many of us will continue to be defensive over their treatment of her even if she, being the sweet gracious cutey angel baby that she is :heart2:, can rise above it all.

I simply refuse to Rise Up.mp3 I will LIVE in these trenches for her. :nicole:

So is the tour still getting announced this Wednesday? Or Feb 6. To coincide with the posters?

Crazy af.

It's ish like this really infuriates me. People actively choose to overlook the problematic trend and blindly or intentionally make it a "quality of music" thing, not understanding that aligning with the trend is in essence saying: Black women / Black talent make good music to be nominated, but not good **enough** to be rewarded. Which we all know is objectively untrue.

No no, its even worse than u describe it, since there are genre-based fields where Black artists get rewarded and where Bey got pretty much all her Grammy wins. What they are saying is "You are outstanding...for a black female artist. But when u compete against our white peers, it just isn't enough". Absolutely appaling and disrespectful

In SONY’s civil suit against the hacker, they cited “irreparable damages” to their relationship with Beyoncé.  I know she cussed them tf out.  So, I’ve always been surprised she stayed there when it was time to renegotiate her contract.

It was never made public, but I’d bet they paid her an insane amount of money to stay — even as just distribution.

Speaking of rising up above the hurt… :eli:

Imma just drop this angelic harmony here, heal my heart, and go on with the rest of my day

This is what I imagine is playing when you reach the gates of heaven (a feeling the Grammy committee will never know).

Lol. This is tea, even though I'm one of the Hive that DOES care.

I think there''s 2 issues that keep the Grammys at the center of the success narrative amongst the Hive:

1) Bey's own continued affiliation with them. She keeps playing ball with them, submits her music, shows up to the ceremonies.

2) We don't have the luxury of major platforms she'll indulge. Thee days, she's essentially "above the VMAs, BMAs, AMAs, etc. She likes the BET Awards, but you get my point. Her frontwards facing appearances are less and less.  So, it's hard for certain corners of the Hive to "let go" as it's not like we're actually gonna see her anywhere else. Whether we like it or not, whether their rep is growing more damaged by the year, there is no music award accolade higher that the Grammys -- factually speaking. It kind of is what it is. And Bey (for whatever reason) seems to still be drawn to the allure of them possibly doing right by her. As such, it's expected that her fans will too.

But whew did you make a lot of **very** valid points.

TBH, after this year, regardless of whether she wins or not, I think it's finally time to stop submitting in totality. She'll very likely still cast a huge shadow over them by being the most awarded for years to come and thus constantly mentioned.

But by not submitting anymore, she'll likely ascend to a level of reverence that she/we didn't even think possible. Which is being huger than huge yet not held to the same success metrics as her peers. She's already done that with the way she's handled her career over the last 10 years, but this would be cementing it and immortalizing herself in a even unique way. Her career always been the perfect mix of MJ and Prince to me and this will see her lean more towards the latter.

From what I understand the voters can only vote for the categories in their genre of expertise and the main4 categories, so it's not really like that. It just shows that the urban community is really behind her but she doesn't have much support from other areas like rock, country, and I'm sure she's a quite divisive figure among pop voters too.

The people voting for the rock categories are not the same ones voting for RnB for example. Everyone votes for the big4 however.

They just confirmed it's happening on Wednesday last page.

Real quickly, before I get back to work (my boss is gonna kill me :rip:)… my prediction is:

1) Tour announcement before Grammys, so Wednesday (fingers crossed)

2) Visuals post Grammys, sometime in Feb or March — as tour promotion since she’s not performing at award shows this era

3) Tour starting in April/May

I love reading your posts, and I want your take on something.  Sorry if it’s already been discussed.

Ben Winston and Trevor Noah are already talking to the media about the possibility of Beyoncé becoming the most awarded Grammy winner ever and what a historic moment that would be.

Do you find that a backhanded way of giving her a *moment* without giving her THE moment?  I have such a complicated feeling around them stopping the show to honor her while only giving her “genre awards”.  It’s an honor, no doubt, but it also feels like playing in her face.

I imagine that’s why she was ambitious and submitted Renaissance and Break My Soul in Dance (especially the album).  Renaissance would have been an easy win in Progressive R&B this year.  No competition.  In my mind, she at least wanted to walk away feeling as though she accomplished/achieved something new instead of another R&B trophy, if nothing in the General field.

Aw, that kind of makes me sad if that’s the case.  They’ve played with her so long.

Yall keep blaming the academy as if the voters are not artists and producers, engineers and industry people.

AOTY is not just chosen, it is VOTED UPON by people like Taylor, Timbaland, Diane Warren, Terius Nash, etc.

The real tea is why THOSE people don't vote for her, cause they dont see her contribution as being heavy.

Beck is respected in that way and so was Jon Baptiste, Taylor is also KNOWN for writing her albums.

Now the argument could me made in favor of someone like Mariah, but most people hate on Bey in secret.

I don't think they see contributions as not enough; everyone knows how meticulous and hard working she is.  I think they see the praise she gets everywhere and think she has enough so they purposefully don't vote for her to keep her from getting more.

The irritation by some members about the Grammy discussions is very interesting to me. We are music fans, its the biggest night in music, ofcourse we're gonna care. She is also the most nominated artist of the night, and could become the most awarded person ever. Us caring should not be a surprise, especially considering the lack of any Bey content to discuss instead of this.

Having said that, it is insane that THE Beyoncé only has one Grammy in any of the 4 major categories.... it really is her time. If this time she doesn't sweep i doubt she will ever return.

i do think Beyonce has a lot of haters in the industry who resent her success & longevity and think it should go to other singers. There's more Kelis and Keri Hilson types out there...everybody just won't be public to avoid backlash.
