the swapping between shots of different nights was great, but yeah it was a classic event already that the additional filter effects were a bit too on the nose

What song do you literally never think about? For me it's Superpower. I forget it's even a Beyoncé song until someone mentions it.

I don't agree, but can understand why someone wouldn't want switches between vintage filters and regular footage, but don't think it was that bad either. It seemed like the usage of it was to make it feel instantly classic, and put you in a space where you're viewing something through the lens of history. I don't know if that's the intention, but that's what I felt.

 

You can tell they were good at editing because you never once get the feeling that Beyoncé was dealing with an outfit malfunction in the DC look, whereas you can in the live footage and tbh it was kinda distracting at times.

 

 

All in all, I do not think the editing is a mess at all. A mess would be the OTRI film.

I'm glad some (most?) of you enjoy it but personally I found the whole thing incredibly irritating and distracting. Granted I've only watched like 3 clips of it on Youtube (CIL, Formation and Diva) but I didn't feel like I want to watch the rest of it. I much prefer to see the show as is in one take from start to finish. It makes for a more seamless and 'live performance' experience in my opinion. 

 

On another note, are we finally 'hours away' from stuff happening? 

I rewatched Homecoming the other night with my two month old nephew, early indoctrination and I actually loved getting to see both nights. I know that evidence of multiple performances is a common criticism of concert films, especially when it’s intentional and even more when the performers are costumed differently, but I never seem to mind it. Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour uses dozens of nights and I love that too  I join the consensus about the Super 8 filter with the sprocket holes showing, I think it’s corny and I don’t get what it’s supposed to mean, if anything. It’s very pumpkin spice latte Pinterest board Instagram filter teas iykwim

I love the editing of the two nights, especially with CIL when it flips, it's really well done

If she does announce the tour this week and performs at the GRAMMYs Sunday, getting tickets next week is going to be even more of a blood bath than it would've been anyway.

I think the Super 8 effect is to give that footage a more "classic" feeling, referencing the visual quality of important concert films of the past. It seems clear Beyoncé is giving us another lens (almost literally) in which to view her performance: that of timelessness.

 

When you see her behind-the-scenes before getting onstage in the Super 8 footage makes the entire thing feel more epic and historic. Glimpses of the performance within this effect is interesting to me because there is a nostalgic impact when you see Super 8 or even VHS effects and it takes us out of 2018. I don't think it's merely Pinterest filtering, that is far cheesier. I'd compare it more to the use of black-and-white when a film/documentary wants it to take on a more serious, perhaps intellectual tone. It's not quite that far, but it's somewhere in between.

 

Also it's an effect Beyoncé has been using for a long, long time now...dating back to the B'Day era and isn't a whole lot different than Beyoncé using a retro sound to impart a classic feeling to her music, either.

I'm going to try to get two, one to maybe a less in demand date and then one to Atlanta. Her Atlanta shows are electrifying

Question for US Hive regarding tour tickets:

I believe it’s going to be a bloodbath to get tickets to watch Bey in concert in NY, LA etc. But what about smaller cities? Are we expecting her to quickly sell out nationwide? 

She WOULD call it Club Renaissance even though it'll be in stadiums (the least intimate of venues) and in daylight in many countries

Based on this, the GA is also the pit? Imagine this lady charges the entire GA floor VIP pit prices. Seems like something she would do.

Also that stage doesn't look like it supports a 360 degree setup.
