Is Taylor's backlash valid?

Featured Replies

It's not a real downfall era until she stops selling. And the album is still topping the charts. Do low critical scores matter?

Thoughts?

  • And will all that matter in 5, 10, 20, 50 years? Absolutely not. What will matter is how people remember her, and right now that's looking like talentless hack who got a cult to buy her **** music 738

I see lots of people making fun of her in tiktok. I've lost interest in hearing new music from her so yes it's valid

It's valid and does hurt the way she's perceived. Will she be less succesful? No. But will she be remembered differently if she continues this path of sh*tty music? Absolutely.

Normally it doesn't matter, she cares about that stuff and will definitely influence on her though (for better or worse, remember that's what prompted the rep to Lover shift in the first place deadbanana2)

The standard album is still green and favorably reviewed? I'd be mad too if my fave needed Rihanna for her last forgotten number 1.

Since Red she's asked herself when her audience will get tired of her. I think she is always ready for it and has accepted her downfall already.

Maybe she is ready to have less fans. Maybe she wants to do smaller venues with less dates. Maybe she wants to walk around without a bodyguard.

She will get a new #1 single, she wants to beat the Beatles record, I think that was the whole point of the rerelease. Her legacy will be being the most successful singer

I feel like similar topics were covered back in 2019 with Lover (but maybe to a lesser extent) and now it's one of her most streamed albums and even avenged itself with a retroactive #1, so I guess not in the long run michael

But let the girls on here get their kiis while it lasts, there isn't usually much fuel for them to drag (especially when it comes to success)

The OP wasn't asking if she was flopping. The question was whether the backlash was warranted because of the drop in her output quality, yet you decided to focus entirely on charts and stats

Going off of her past comments, it matters to her. She wouldn't be providing as many "spiteful" songs towards haters and naysayers if she genuinely didn't care.

With that said I don't think that these 4 new tracks were offensive enough to warrant the backlash they are getting. Cancelled is right there, like there are bigger fish to fry that were on the actual album.
