Why is this song getting so much hate? It's pretty good in my opinion. She tends to release the best songs around this time of the year. But that's just me.

yeah the chorus is kind of amazing tbh. but the bridge is awful.

The chorus is probably her best chorus since the Midnights era.

The chorus is simply, not clunky, yet effective at painting a perfectly clear picture of what's going on. Most importantly, it's catchy.

I think the bridge fits the song... but she needs someone who can look at the bridge, and edit it to cut out unnecessary parts and chop it down. I think you can easily cut 2-4 lines from the bridge, and it would still get the same point across. It's just so WORDY.

Production is ethereal though.

Her need to be the victim is akin to MJ's intense paranoia that started seeping into his lyrics from Thriller onwards. She really is the female MJ both in success and star power, and in their neuroses making their way into their music and deforming their formerly sweet pop songs into vitriolic screeds lashing out against unnamed detractors and conspirators.

I think that pretending the critic score "matters" is maybe a little divorced from reality. Nobody who likes this song is going to have their mind changed because Pitchfork decides it's uncool trash, and nobody who hates it is going to be swayed if Rolling Stone says it's the best song of the year. Quality, sure - but clearly notions of quality aren't universal anyway.

The song wasn't even serviced to Italian mainstream radio which is very weird. It doesn't even have an upcoming releases date.

This just confirms that the 4 new songs were released to have people talk and to generate buzz for Woodvale next week.

Wished the focus single was "pink clouding"- that's a genuinely good song. Patient zero suffers from the terrible spoken rhythmless bridge. Hoping the MV is fire though.

Music video is out on Apple Music & Spotify. Its really interesting & well shot. Makes me like the song more.

I've been closely monitoring the situation on social media, and when Taylor showed up on the red carpet, people were absolutely blown away! Then she premiered the music video, and people started posting enthusiastic comments praising her as an artist. It was like all the negativity from the past few days disappeared in an instant.

Taylor really knows how to shape public opinion. She's a business genius. So I wouldn't be surprised if the streams keep climbing after this and the song ends up sticking around for a long time.

After many listens, i agree with this choice for single.
