Sometimes it's tiring to be gay. My workplace has had (with reason) conversations about the anti Muslim rhetoric as a result of this attack. But not one seemed to care or ask how I feel when I'm the only known out gay man on my team. People shouldn't weaponize the suffering of our community to promote their anti Muslim agenda. But if your only concern is about the aftermath of how this will impact Muslim individuals, but do not mention anything about the pain the 2SLGBTQ+ community is in right now then you can't say you care about human rights, or our community. And to be honest, it's disheartening to see so many 'progressives' stay silent about the legitimate fear and pain our community has in this moment. The world is becoming increasingly more homophobic due to extremism in all religions, we should not have to be swept under the rug right now.
