How would you rate petal?

Pitchfork had some of you riled and poised up! How much would you rate it then?

For me, I'd give it a:

Her vocal ability carries the entire album, but the album feels like a second-hand offering of her past work.

ATRL must decide! Rate it out of 10

1.0 She sounds like she in pain or her bfs D is too big etc Nothing new Boring Predictable

Having ranked each individual song, I came up with a final score of 7.2 out of 10 for the album, overall.

7.5 out of 10

I really liked the engineering of this album, but it's vocal production was ok

6.5-7 tbh

It's not a bad album in the slightest, but it's true that most songs are missing something, so the final result seems forgettable. More marinating would have made it a great album, cause the production here is showing incredible potential.

I personally believe her voice is too "sugary" for it, but I do appreciate her stepping out of her comfort zone with the punchier instrumentals

i'd say 6-7 (DONT MAKE THE JOKE!)

I don't dislike the album nor do i think it's bad by any means, but it kinda is overwhelming and not saying anything that she didn't say with ES which is miles better. plus the vocal production on the album is weird in some places. some parts don't sound like her, then she sounds like AI and then she goes back to sounding like herself.

Im not surprised that she took a bigger role in creating this album. Shes always been a huge fan of Imogen Heap and taken inspiration. I feel like one of the criticisms people have of "that sound" is that they find it very mild and restrained. Personally I love it

8/10

I've only listed once and right now it's at a 5 for me. It, sadly, feels like a lot of noise to me. But, I'm a big fan … so I'm sure I'll listen to it 10 more times and it'll be a 8. But this is probably her least I've enjoyed an album of hers off of a first listen since 2016.

I'm glad she subverted expectations - no big songs, no big vocals - just big lyrics and a sustained thematic cohesion

6.5-7.0 - it will be so much better if she marinates a bit more and adds some seasoning

Probably 6. I don't find it bad but it's nor for me. I like the two singles

6.5 or 7 but I'll probably settle on 7 once some tracks grow on me coffee2

  1. It's not bad, but between this and ES, it seems like she has nothing new or interesting to offer.
