People are really ill-informed. If you say "someone who gets cold sores sometimes" vs "someone who has oral HSV-1" you're going to get different reactions even though they're practically the same thing.

Oral HSV-1 is super common, and I don't expect people to tell me unless they have an active cold sore. I would expect a disclosure for genital herpes. It's pretty manageable with meds, so not an immediate dealbreaker.
