Went to their album release show last night in LA. Played the whole album front to back and then did a set of fan faves to end the show (they did Promise live for the first time in forever, was so happy).

The album really goes off live. Eastside Girls is def gonna be a forever staple, it's so fun. Mary Jane too.

I get some of the thoughts here of there not being huge changes between projects, but I kind of think for me they fall in a slot that like Carly Rae Jepsen/Lights and even some male synthpop bands like St. Lucia/The Midnight/The 1975 fall in where generally I like a good chunk of every album they put out, there are always several songs that stick with me and make my heavy rotation all-time faves driving playlist, even if the album isn't some insanely impressive body of work.

Like all of those groups and MUNA are reliable for a good solid B+ project pretty much every time, but never really reinvent the wheel that much. But everything feeds into the bigger picture of the band and feeds the existing fan base while gradually pulling in more people and the live shows are always great.

Meh, this is easily their worst album to me. A lot of it just sounds like a worse version of their old material and then there are songs like So What where they try something new but it's just... not well executed at all

I like it, but this is one of those cases where the singles vastly outshine the album tracks.

But the highs are seriously excellent. Wannabeher is like crack.

they've become so stale

It probably is their worst album but it says more about their existing catalogue than anything else, if some other act released this we'd be praising but they set the bar so high for themselves

Tbh I've never liked any of their albums. Only like 1 or 2 tracks from each album.

The melodies in Mary Jane what a bop.

Muna is still their best album for me.

Some to reflect… the opinions here seem surprisingly divided…

I understand the "one note" critique some of you are making but I gotta be honest - if it ain't broke don't fix it. I'd be open to them exploring something a bit more experimental but I'd argue they did a fair bit of that on self-titled and the results were a little mixed. But still, I definitely think working with some different producers would be a good shout for M5.

I'm also a bit surprised to see so much praise for Saves The World when I think that's their weakest project by a country mile.

Their first project is still a LITTLE stronger but DOTW feels like a true continuation of that records sound… tbh this album feels like it warrants the self-titled name over anything else they've put out.

Oh and Eastside Girls is my favourite pop song of 2026 so far.

its not that surprising when its got songs like stayaway and pink light which are still absolute perfection

I really liked the first half, especially eastside girls - wannabeher - on call but it falls off after that. big stick is catchy af but soooo cringe

Buzzkiller is a career highlight

"It Gets So Hot" is astounding, a record of the year contender

will always love their pop bangers, and i think people who came on board because of silk chiffon will get a lot of mileage out of this.

but for OG fans this is missing that excellent emotional catharsis that used to be a staple of their music. if we had one around u or taken or home by now here it would make a huge difference.

finally listening to this. I'm on Eastside Girls and it's so catchy so far.

I think I still need some time with this record. It's definitely not as instant as STW…

A lot of the reviews on reddit seem mixed as well.
