Went to their album release show last night in LA. Played the whole album front to back and then did a set of fan faves to end the show (they did Promise live for the first time in forever, was so hap

Amazing album as always. Mary Jane and Girl's Girl punch is insane.

I guess critics this time will be more negative due to the political content.

need a few more listens but this might shape up to be better than STW and self titled for me

I can't get past It Gets So Hot. That song has me in such a chokehold rn. jonny5 Is the rest of the album as great?

My favorite band never misses.

East side girls

Mary Jane

Big stick

They put CRACK in that bridge… oh my God, what a moment.

I liked Eastside Girls on first listen but by my seventh… I was completely besotted - it's also an incredibly fun driving song.

There's nothing here that I think is quite as stunning as Home By Now or I Know A Place and that's fine because both of those are 10/10 note perfect pop songs… however for sheer consistency, I think this is their best album yet.

It Gets So Hot, Dancing On The Wall, Big Stick, Mary Jane, On Call and Buzzkiller are great, but the crown jewel here is definitely Eastside Girls - what a BOP.

  1. It Gets So Hot - 8/10

  2. Dancing On The Wall - 9/10

  3. Eastside Girls - 9.5/10

  4. Wannabeher - 6/10

  5. On Call - 8/10 (it really soars once the key change kicks in)

  6. So What - 7/10

  7. Big Stick - 8.5/10

  8. Mary Jane - 9/10 (That production and the delivery on the verses - UGH)

  9. Girl's Girl - 7/10

  10. Why Do I Get A Good Feeling? - 7/10

  11. Buzzkiller - 8/10

can't tell if I've outgrown them or if this album is markedly worse than their previous ones.

Didn't like this album, to bad because I loved their past albums, even Katie's solo debut.

So What
Big Stick
...Good Feeling

I'm using those 3 only :(

I'm obsessed with this. To me, this is their strongest effort. Literally NO skip clap3

Great album! Classic MUNA. hippo

So What remains my highlight on first listen, but It Gets So Hot, Eastside Girls, and Buzzkiller are all great too! Only one I didn't really seem to gravitate towards was On Call, but it might grow on me

Longtime fan and have loved all of their past releases but I can't shake the feeling that their formula is getting a bit… one note. I don't understand the perspective of this project and the end result just feels mostly… inessential?

It Gets So Hot and Wannabeher are such refreshing songs for them, they give me some kind of William Orbit meets Girls Aloud meets Circus era Britney type sound hawkeye

Meanwhile, Girl's Girl and Mary Jane are what MUNA do best - a great continuation from where they left off with The One That Got Away last era.

All in all, a solid album clap3

They just have to serve every single time, this album is spectacular

i think they should work with another / co producer.. so much here sounds like its inspired in theory but sonically falls flat

The production is pretty good and Katie's vocals really shine throughout the record, imo.

The repetitive post-chorus formula gets a bit boring tbh.

8/11

Sadly I totally agree…

I find every song essential on their first two albums — with Saves The Word being to me their best and one of my fav albums of all time.

With their self titled, I felt a majority of it still incredible with just a handful that felt a little bland or like them on autopilot. Sadly this album seems to be the same with even more "copy and paste" muna songs. I think the production style of their songs is always going to be so mesmerizing to me, I guess it's primarily the melodies, lyrics and structure of the songs that had me scratching my head multiple times throughout my first listen being like hmm have I heard this song before.

Also this is the longest amount of time between albums and Katie took time off to do her solo project, so I was excited to see how those things would possibly shake up their sound or help them evolve in cool ways. Sadly this album sounds like a b side collection to their last album which is the last thing I expected.
