He never had a point. He just thinks making baseless accusations constitutes arguments. I have at least tried to not bring stan war goggles in and come into serious threads with details and info. But he just revealed how prejudiced he is when I revealed that I am an ethnic Palestinian and he was saying false information about the broader Middle East region that could be easily debunked.

Context and severity. Sometimes someone may say something inartfully that is offensive but isn't intended to be, but it still needs to be addressed. For example: someone who misgenders someone (with context) or says something racially insensitive (again, the context matters) vs. calling someone slurs, supporting ethnic cleansing, calling for people with mental illness to be killed (which happened a few weeks ago).

ah i see

thanks for the explanation

Let me start by saying that you're looking at the entire Middle Eastern struggle through a very narrow and Westernized lens

Israel is a Western proxy state invented by Western powers to be a Jewish ethno state in the Middle East. What other lens should I view its purpose as an American satellite proxy? I am American. American tax dollars protect and prop up Israel's ability to be Jewish ethno state and thus I want my tax dollars to not do this and the state of Israel dissolved. There should be no Israel. There should be no such thing as Israelis.

Part of me Is unconvinced about these identities you claim because you're either not these things or terribly removed from modern consensus amongst the identities you claim. You won't be able to leverage progressive sounding language to scold me. "Well what shout women in /spins wheel/ Pakistan??"

You have every ability to voice your concerns on whatever geopolitical issues you want. That won't change that what you're trying to mention is simply not materially relevant to the FACTS that Israel is an apartheid state, Israel is committing a genocide, expert consensus is that a two state solution will never happen due to how nationalistic Israeli society has become, and thus it's perfectly reasonable to hold the stance that the Israeli state must be dissolved, its citizens re-educated, and a new Palestine nation built in its place.

Why would I ever consider someone who mocks the idea of Palestine as a country to have an opinion with merit when they claim their support for the Jewish ethno state is not fueled by racism? You don't think a Palestinian state has ever existed nor should exist because you support Jewish nationalism. I don't need to ponder how many college course hours the average woman in Iran is or isn't taking to know the Israeli state should fall.

At this point I can't be bothered. There were always questionable banners but whatever. This is the same place who promoted Eurovision despite the Israel controversy so what does that say? cm

Again, you're looking at the Middle Eastern struggle through a westernized lens. The facts presented are โ€” modern day Israel's origin involves a mix of historical forces: the aftermath of European antisemitism and the Holocaust, the decline of the Ottoman Empire, British mandate-era policies, Zionist and Arab nationalist movements, and later regional wars and geopolitical alignments. You don't have to agree with any of those developments or their outcomes, but reducing all of that to a single externally imposed design flattens a very complex history.

I know you've been conditioned to have a deep hatred for Israel and the Jews, as I also critique Israelis and much of the Zionist movement but unfortunately, you cannot eliminate an entire state or deny the legitimacy or existence of an entire group of people. Your dangerous rhetoric is deeply rooted in antisemitism and that kind of framing moves away from political critique and into collective dehumanization. It's critiques like yours as to why there are legitimate political policies on U.S. foreign and military aid, and how American tax dollars are being used, including in relation to Israel. Again, these are facts presented, not an opinion. People can and do, however, disagree at times on those issues, and it's fair to question government policy or advocate for changes in funding priorities. However, the reason for that is โ€” again, not my opinion but a fact โ€” Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East. It's the only democracy in the Middle East where gays and women have the most equal rights, and where things like pride events can even happen.

If the U.S. were to withdraw support from Israel overnight, the potential consequences in terms of regional instability and human casualties would be extremely severeโ€” far beyond what most people can easily imagine. Worse than anything you or I ever will ever see in our lifetime or have seen over the last several years. Personally, I too would prefer a future where my U.S. tax dollars are not directed towards another country with foreign conflicts, and where all people in the region are able to live in peace without the constant fear of violence or fear of being carpet bombed. In fact, that is the foundation of my position which is why I condemn war and violence on all sides, as should anyone with moral compass.

Unfortunately what you are doing is framing an entire country as something that was simply "invented" without acknowledging the broader historical context, internal political diversity, and competing interpretations that exist among historians and political scientists. Most importantly, arguing that a state should be "dissolved" or that "there should be no such thing as its citizens" moves away from policy critique and into eliminationist language. Whatever position someone takes on borders, governance, or international relations, political disagreement has to remain anchored in frameworks that still recognize the humanity and existence of all civilians involved.

Also, dismissing the lived realities of Iranian or Kurdish women, or the Women Life Freedom movement, as an example is highly offensive and harmful. Women in Iran are not an abstract talking point โ€” they are real people who have faced decades of legal and social restrictions, including mandatory dress codes, policing of bodily autonomy, and violent crackdowns on dissent, especially during protests like those following the death of Mahsa Amini. There are well-documented cases from the UN and human rights organizations showing women being arrested, beaten, imprisoned, and in some cases killed for resisting state-imposed restrictions on their freedom and expression. But just because it isn't Israel committing these crimes and present-day human rights abuses, suddenly it doesn't seem to matter.

Reducing that reality, or implying it's irrelevant to broader political arguments, ignores the actual human cost involved and why the broader context of Middle Eastern lives don't matter to many, if any of you at all. Again, you say you're against child predators but don't condemn countries that have made child marriage legal. You claim to be against against genocide yet haven't once spoken up about what's going on in Nigeria, or minority, activist and religious groups in places like Iran who are being killed or tortured as we speak. How interesting.

If this forum was seriously committed to ethical consistency they would know that promoting Eurovision despite the ongoing situation is highly suspicious and questionable behavior.

It's also deeply irresponsible to claim an entire society normalizes rape or to portray ordinary civilians as inherently depraved because of their nationality or political identity.

But broad statements portraying millions of people as uniquely evil, sexually violent, or psychologically broken cross into dangerous territory and only deepen hatred rather than contribute to justice or peace. And that goes with any region or state.

The way you have continually been doing exactly this regarding Palestine
