PLASTIC OFF THE SOFA - great song but its a snooze and brings the energy down.

THIQUE - cute bridge but its too cringy in lyrics

CC:

SPAGHETTI - intentional but very polarizing and like POTS on REN, it breaks the flow on CC

LEVI'S JEANS - such a basic song, I really could have lived without this dud.

I watched almost every beyonce reaction. It's gets boring because reactors like mainly reacting to legacy acts/new artist and Bey has no new album for them youtubers to react to

Renaissance would be All Up in Your Mind and lowkey Summer Renaissance. Nothing against her, she's a cute girl, but she doesn't give in the way Pure/Honey did and I'd honestly rather start the album over

No shade, but it'd be easier to list the songs I don't skip on Cowboy Carter if I'm not in the mood to play the album from start to finish

I've never listened to the Miley collab in full. I just can't be arsed. It's a dreadful bore.

Levi jeans haters don't have a problem with the track, they have a problem with Post. Same thing with CC haters, they just don't like country and don't give the alberm a proper listen.

i agree CC is good but country aint my thing.

Cowboy Carter is a superb album with a well deserved AOTY Grammy win.

I think the only thing that blocks it from being on the same level as Renaissance is the extensive track listing with way too many interludes.

CC was my most streamed album of 2024 and 2025, but it's not my favourite Beyoncé record and it's one I know go back too relatively little, comparative to it's release date.

At its foundation, it's a good album. There is great writing, beautiful melodies and some of her best lyrics.

Renaissance was similarly ambitious in its sonic scope, but its concept was much tighter. In a way, I perceive that Beyoncé found it easier to express herself and her message when she was channelling it though exploring the identity experiences of black queer people through the history and roots of dance music, versus expressing much more complex personal and societal message around the place of black people in country music.

She was expressing her right to have a place in this genre as a black woman and as a Texan, whilst also celebrating the black roots and pioneers of that genre, and also challenging the concept of genre itself. And then she added in narrative to the structure of the album, telling a story about love and betrayal and then also added in the concept of the Beyoncé radio station to navigate the genre shifts.

As always, my favourite thing about Beyoncé is her ambition. And I wouldn't really change CC as a consequence.

But it lacks that laser focus Renaissance had. It's more of an art project than an album.

I think one of my reflections is that Beyoncé's art is often more impactful when she has to operate within constraints of some kind. Whether that be time, resources, or concept.

I've always said this but CC is an amazing album. It's just Country is a **** genre and is the worst genre of all time. Thank God Bey didn't do a traditional Country one.
