OT: that's actually incredibly terrible, Jamaica hasn't been hit by a storm this big in ever basically…and it seems to be heading for part of Cuba and Haiti after my goodness. hoping for the best for all.

I've been following it for a few days. It's a doomsday scenario. I would say it will be like Hurricane Maria but it might be much worse. 

This is going to be so catastrophic for them :( 

Last year I was stuck in Jamaica during hurricane Beryl. That was scary, but this looks much worse.

It's the bad geography for me. Those two islands are further apart than NYC and Miami

I'm from there actually but I've been living on another island for over 20 years now. 
 

Majority of my family are still living there though. I'm kind of scared ngl 

My grandparents, dad and a few more relatives are there. Hoping for the best...

The eye of the hurricane has been recently categorized as an EF4 tornado as it approaches Jamaica with 241 mph winds 700 feet above the ocean surface.

Third most intense hurricane in Atlantic history with 892 mb of pressure... and in making landfall at that intensity, it is the most intense landfall in the Atlantic Ocean. Absolutely crazy.

Im terrified with some members here havin family there  Prayin 4 all of them
I know some people see this as worthless but i hope god send their angels to protect them

After Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica as the strongest-ever storm to directly hit the Caribbean nation of 2.8 million people, drone footage from the island shows the trail of devastation left in its wake.

The storm made landfall as a Category 5 hurricane with sustained winds of 185 mph near the town of New Hope, some 39 miles south of Montego Bay on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

The storm continued on its march through the Caribbean, pummeling Cuba on Wednesday, Oct. 29, with sustained winds of 120 mph when it made landfall, according to the National Hurricane Center.

In drone footage first posted by Reuters, the fishing village of Alligator Pond, Jamaica, is seen devastated, with buildings, boats and homes close to the coast impacted by Hurricane Melissa.

This is wild and sad

Most of those tourists made the conscious decision to travel to a country under a hurricane advisory. No sympathy for their asses.
