Love Florence, but this isn't demonic enough for me. If the rest of the album is like this I might just stick with Britney.

the cover convinced me, and the snippet too!

I'm just going to pretend that people forgot Dance Fever exists because... :rip:

Like how can an album with Hunger, Sky Full Of Song, The End Of Love, Grace and even No Choir be her worst lbfr I swear!

Only Cassandra, My Love, Daffodil, and The Bomb can somehow be compared to them, and even so they get wrecked big time :rip:

The album may be lacking some of her bombastic melodies, but The Old Religion and You Can Have It All are definitely aiming to become two of her best songs ever

I'm on Perfume And Milk (which I am really enjoying!) right now and it's definitely better than Dance Fever at this point so I'm cautiously optimistic!

There are no 'worst' albums when talking about Florence, merely albums that are less incredible than her others :cm:

she's lost it

Can someone share the spotify link to the album (can't get it myself bc the wifi's been down all day :clack:)

you are not gonna get it the first time After a second and third time, you can like, whoa

maybe it is ahead of its time for certain people

A lyricist

Such a complex album imo, so many interesting topics she explored that no one else does really.

I'm surprised HBHBHB stans aren't digging this btw? I feel like it's a HBHBHB x DF x HAH fusion

Each album in her discog is distinct enough, but everything fits together collectively!

Her music is always so serious, never light/hearted. She's given and revealed so much, maybe she SHOULD go lighter / more fun for FATM7? Maybe that'll come with the peace from And Love that I hope hope hope she gets :clap3:

This is quite an album, anyway! MBM and AL are my least favorites for sure. Still so happy to have because they note important parts of the story

This album is for those who appreciate unconventional melodies and songs that don't follow the usual structure, because Witch Dance is that good :clap3:

Well well well, looks like Florence didn't release two consecutive flops in a row! :clap3:This really feels like a great autumn album, definitely released at the right time of the year and it really enhanced the experience. I also enjoyed the more grim, dark atmosphere that permeates through some of this album. I also loved the more slow tempo songs overall, and that has kind of been my vibe with Florence as of late where I generally latch onto her more slower, somber songs. It's usually where her songwriting, vocals and dramatics (if there are any) really shine these days. I can't really say if this album reminds me of any of her previous albums, but I think you could take most of these songs and sprinkle them around her already existing albums and it'd make perfect sense.

The first half to me is much less impressive than the second half. I think the more straightforward alternative rock angle doesn't really work for her, except in You Can Have It All which feels like a good blend of alternative rock and the signature intense dramatic flair of her earlier work. I also found the overuse of guitars throughout the album a bit offputting and disappointing, I would've like to hear more diverse selection of instruments. Give me piano, give me harps, give me violins... guitar-heavy songs like Perfume and Milk, Buckle and Music by Men could've been elevated with different instrumentations.

Anyway, I'd rate the songs as follows.

GODLIKE DISCOGRAPHY HIGHLIGHT

The Old Religion

Drink Deep

AMAZING

You Can Have It All

And Love

GOOD

Perfume and Milk

Everybody Scream

GOOD CHORUS  BUT STILL A SKIP

Kraken

One of the Greats being a skip when it's literally SOTY…

About to go for a walk and EXPERIENCE this new gospel :jonny:

Literally OBSESSED with The Old Religion and Drink Deep.

Oh she is so back!

tumblr_nrihjpU3lc1ql5yr7o1_500.gif

Perfume and Milk GAGGED me :jonny: the lyrics?!

Also, Buckle is so different for her… sounds like a smash tbh!

I loved the album overall. Very deep and dark, which was just what I expected. I listened to it on a walk at dawn, but I can tell it's an album I need to listen to on a dark and gloomy day. I can't wait to live with this!

i'll use

the old religion, buckle, sympathy magic, you can have it all, and love

the others are essays, not songs. i love florence so i'm hoping for more songs on fatm7

This arrhythmic-rambling spoken word type approach this era is just.......

I just keep replaying The Old Religion and Drink Deep over and over and over and this hasn't happened in a long while even with any of my other recent favorite music releases. Like  the magic from Lungs and Ceremionals are soooo present here. :jonny5:

Chamber Edition has shipped!! :WAP:

It's a gift for my husband, but I wanna see that photo book :kissy:

I just finished listening and HOLY F***.

I swear to God at this point I have to believe all the whining is from people who only know Florence from Spectrum and Dog Days because there is NO way this album is boring, dumb or even remotely similar to High As Hope imo!!

There is SO MUCH. Such incredible fkn lyrics and the layers upon layers of instrumentation and the melodies oh my god

The thing is you can't experience Florence through a main pop girlie filter and that's the thing I think most people who are complaining about the album don't get - she'll occasionally give you a radio hit but that's not her calling. Hooks and catchy phrases are not what you should be coming to Florence for, imo.

That being said! The Old Religion is THE single best song of her career. I was losing my mind. The magic of both Dessner twins shines on this one :giraffe:

You can have it all is incredible, should've been longer - Perfume and Milk, Drink Deep, Buckle, And Love, even Music by Men.... All incredible. All absolutely incredible. I'm gonna be consuming this album for months.
