Love Florence, but this isn't demonic enough for me. If the rest of the album is like this I might just stick with Britney.

the cover convinced me, and the snippet too!

Everybody Scream, Witch Dance, Drink Deep, and You Can Have It All are PERFECTION :wanda:

wow I'm going back a few pages and all y'all lashing Dance Fever :shakeno: cmon now! Dance Fever is excellent, it feels like Lungs 2.0 to me :clap3: the only album of hers I'm personally not the biggest fan of is High as Hope, but it's still not bad

this album, so far, is very much giving an evolution of HBHBHB :jonnyknife:  very rocky and angsty, perhaps her most musically complex album to date? like these are the sorts of melodies that aren't really instant earworms, rather sounding like they'll age well like a nice scotch

hmm… so I see she's really leaning into her Patti Smith-inspired bag here! I think this is gonna take a few listens for sure to grasp most of these songs. I enjoyed it as a whole though, it's definitely a very grown up album even though the title makes it seem like it'd be more riotous and lively. like I said before, very melodically complex and best consumed as a full experience :clap3:

I had an intuition a few days ago that all her albums are sisters:

Lungs - High as Hope

Ceremonials - Dance Fever

HBHBHB - Everybody Scream

I feel validated in this theory, this album is HB's moodier sister and I'm overwhelmed with it

Perfume AND Milk. The classic it is

Gave it a listen last night and honestly only kept Kraken and And Love. Still obsessed with the title track though. Maybe it'll click more after a few plays like some of you said but right now it's feeling like her second weakest album:

Lungs

Ceremonials

HBHBHB

Dance Fever

Everybody Scream

High as ****

The album is her least instant one and yet ir screams QUALITY. In no way is this album bad or mid.

It will probably be her least "loved" album but a rare gem in her discography. I still believe the lead single was a weird choice, but I guess in an album like this it makes sense.

Yeah, unfortunely, i hate the album

i can't even call it a weak album bc i couldn't even finish some of the songs

the only songs im keeping it are title track, tor and buckle, but TOR production sounds so much like a folklore/evermore outtake and i have to be in the right mood for the title track

i wish she doesn't take to long to release again but i know that this will not happen so i kind hope she took the witchery references out of her system for the next, i prefer her god/greek/mithology references

Lmao this album wishes it was anything close to the perfection of how blue, jesus.

Yes, the Patti influence was all over the album I felt while listening, but she has attempted it before and always felt like a bit of an awkward match, but here she really marries her own sensibilities perfect with it. It's punk poetry trough a very 18th century Romantic lens and I think she has produced something quite special.

Contrary to some opinions, this album feels like the evolution I was waiting for from her. It's lush, warm, detailed; a move away from anthemic choruses to a more enveloping sound. She really took me on a journey, which makes And Love as a closer hit all the more strongly. She embraces the transcendense of mysticism but in true medieval fashion: it's dirty work, blood and mud, embracing the monster within. The female mystic is a perfect comparison for her and her career: they were feared by the male clergy because of their personal relationship to godliness, they were too much and Florence has aways been found too much; by critics and evidently by lovers too.

I think her voice has never sounded better, such clarity like ringing church bells on the foggy landscape. Musically I think this album also finds the perfect middle ground between the pagan thundering drums and the more freeform rock stylings. It also perfect for the season, not because of (silly) Halloween, but because it is the season of death and liminality and this album feels like a testimony to her desire and willingness to break her body for a glimpse of transcendence only to find that love can be as dependable as the rising sun.

Idk, it's a hit in this household, ladies!
