I'm not talking about official firework shows, I mean randoms who buy fireworks in stores and blast them in the middle of populated areas in the AM hours.

They should be illegal in general. Animals get anxious because of them. Not to mention the noise and air pollution.

Honestly yeah, it's crazy that people are setting off explosives in their back gardens. So many people get injured from them every year

Official firework shows should be illegal too. There's no other purpose to fireworks than useless amenity. It's humans' way of showing dominance in nature.

 

Coldplay shows being firework galore then branding themselves as ecofriendly is laughable.

The amount of New Year's celebrations I've spend just hugging my shivering dog half-inside a closet the last 10 years is insane and my doggo ain't the only pet going through that.

Yes, I hate hearing fireworks when it's not July 4th, but people tend to do them all through July where I live. When I was a kid, it was illegal for people to even buy those big commercial fireworks or set them off in residential areas, but people would get them from the next state up anyway. Now it doesn't even seem like those are illegal anymore.

No, they're a fun communal event and mostly done super safely.

Maybe some type of laser or drone show could replace them. They shouldn't just ban fireworks but also make them obsolete

no tbh I love them  I don't like the Fourth of July for what it stands for but it has given us a few great things: time for BBQs and going to the pool, fireworks, and this song

 

idk but also I've had the experience of doing fireworks myself in an alley in Boulder while I was still in college and all my friends at the time were really hot so maybe that fond memory makes me biased

No. I was always surrounded by fireworks growing up and even now. My family always popped them. I don't buy them, as an adult, because I feel like it's a waste of money whenever I can easily just watch people throughout the subdivision pop theirs. The people at the end of the cul-de-sac pop for virtually every holiday—Fourth of July, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, etc. I love watching and seeing them from a distance. It's magical. They bring me a sense of comfort, ironically. I live in the country, though, so...

 

I grew up in the redneck south so I am VERY familiar with fireworks and have mixed feelings.
 

I live in a Midwest city now and it's extremely annoying when people are setting them off at random hours on random nights. Three literally just went off about 30 mins ago and it's about 3:45 am where I live (I'm a night owl). They should definitely be harder to get here and more restricted.

 

But growing up out in the country, I won't lie, they were fun as hell. I looked forward to it every year and we always bought some for July 4th and New Years Eve. I never got hurt but I definitely heard of it happening to people. We also didn't have many close neighbors so it wasn't much of an issue. I hate to be a Karen and take their fun away if people are using them safely in parts of the country where it's not bothering anyone. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I already said yes, but let me say 1,000 times yes now because my neighbor's garbage can just set on fire and we only saw it because we went to check on our other neighbors' animals while they're away. I'm really shaken up now thinking about what could have happened if we hadn't gone over at that exact time and woken them up to put the fire out...

I wouldn't mind if they became illegal. 

Try taking fireworks from the Germans on New Year's Eve and they'll act like Republicans when you tell them they shouldn't have a gun at the house.
