this. all these armchair execs on the forum who think they know everything are just... we don't know anything about the kind of deal she agreed. it's not some black or white issue and obviously a lot of considerations needed to be weighed up. i don't know why anyone thinks she just woke up one day and signed the deal without any thought. midnight sun reached the top 20 on the hot 100 over a year after release under Epic. she has genuine interest right now which is way more valuable than a "good" (allegedly) label. sometimes music just doesn't connect and artists kill their own momentum or vice versa.
