My least fave of the first three singles, but it's still good.  Just wish it had more of a chorus.

I see the vision if she is exploring the action oriented instant gratification nature of the male psychology and adopting the good qualities of it.

Hammer made me look at the other songs differently. She can pull off something special if she goes deep on this.

I think this works well as an intro. I like the vibes but it would be a bit jarring mid-album.

Had my first listen high at the art museum and had to stop myself from dancing around the sculpture gallery.

She's 3/3 for me and I mean that in like, thee are my favorite songs of the year so far.

My ATOY incoming despite what's shaping up to be a second immaculate Ethel Cain record this year?

Mind you Mr. S said his favorites are Hammer, David, Shapeshifter, Current Affairs and Broken Glass, so if you liked Hammer probably the rest could also positively surprise you

It's the opposite. This has the same problem as Solar Power: weak melodies and lyrics. At least in Solar Power the lyrics were attempting to be about something. In the case of this song and Man of the Year, they allude to many different things but are really about nothing.

I do like the lyricism of this era a lot more than Solar Power. Situational songwriting, quick thoughts popping up in your head.

Man Of The Year still does nothing for me though. The hammer isn't moving for it.

What Was That is a nice bop. Would nod my head if it came on the radio.

but Hammer is hopefully the mission statement. The rawest her music sounded since Pure Heroine imo. I would describe it as "atomic"

This reads as a quote from a Lorde e-mail talking about a new pop girlie release

The way I've listened to every single multiple times and could barely hum any parts of them back to you. :rip:

Not trying to come off a hater but nothing from this era has genuinely clicked for me. I think I might just enjoy Melodrama as its own album than her as an artist overall. I'll still check Virgin out though, hopefully the full thing will change my mind.

This is the best song of the three for me, but there's something about all three songs that doesn't quite work for me.

I dunno. I'm not really excited for this project anymore. I'm hoping the full album will force me to eat crow.

She really will never give us something on the level of her first 2 albums and that's okay. She started too strong.

The video was disgusting. I LOVE IT! Best video of the era.

Why did this read like "Does anyone think global warming is a good thing? I love Lady Gaga. I think she's a very interesting artist."

Lorde release something that's not divisive challenge (love it) :jonny5: :bam:
