I want Taylor to watch anime series I feel like the stories she can get from anime will unlock a whole other world for her writing inspo / style and even her visual game. I'm curious to also hear her thoughts on some undeniably amazing anime's like Death Note. Mastermind vibes tbh

Don't get me wrong, I love Midnights and I'm so grateful for new music and hopefully a tour! Plus, her work ethic is nothing short of admirable. There are some really great tracks on there (Anti-Hero, Maroon, YOYO,K, Labyrinth, etc.), but none of them gave me the same strong reaction I got when listening to the Lover highlights for the first time (Cruel Summer, ITHK, Cornelia Street, DBATC, False God, Afterglow). Before anyone says it, I know Lover has some weak points and isn't perfect (Me!, YNTCD, INTHAF), but that album just feels so much more dynamic and emotive. I think the biggest issue I have with Midnights is that it's almost a little too cohesive. A good concept and a cohesive record is great, but a lot of the tracks use the same type of production (deep synths, electronic influences, and vocal effects) which works, but a little more variety would've benefitted the record greatly. This is why Anti-Hero, YOYO,K, and Sweet Nothing really stand out in a good way as they stand out and have a clear, unique musical identity. 

 

None of this is meant to be negative! I love Midnights and I'm currently bopping to my vinyl, and I simply cannot wait to see her on stage again! But from my own, personal critical perspective, I would argue it's my least favorite pop album by her. 

 

1989 > Reputation > Lover > Midnights

I sure hope she will be the next VMA Vanguard recipient and also get one of those Billboard milestone awards in 2023.

I mean, I would love that, not sure how realistic it is though, but even if she does wait for the tour to take off to launch Speak Now TV as already theorised, it’s still only 4 months away anyway. 

I don’t see us getting Speak Now TV before the end of the year, not with Midnights smashing this hard. However, I do think we could get the announcement before the end of the year, with the release being early spring right before the tour starts.

I think we're getting it a week before the tour.

I've just been thinking.. Mine (US Version) and Cardigan are her best lead singles and All You Had to Do Was Stay is better than any Rep/Lover/Midnights song 

A gentle reminder that If This Was A Movie is top 5 on Peak Now  

So, let me be a bit insane. In Bejeweled music video, she uses elevator to get to the 3rd and 5th floor ( Speak Now and 1989, respectively ) and then she ends up on the 13th floor. Can this possibly suggest that next - 13th project/album is a double re-release of those two albums? I am aware of the ongoing Shake It Off lawsuit, but that could possibly be resolved come January next year. And if she plans to re-release Speak Now before the tour, she may as well  do that for 1989 considering it’s the Eras Tour. 

That being said, I also doubt she would cannibalize those 2 albums, so there’s that too. 

I know Lover is very polarazing, but this is her best closer.

I feel bad for Fearless TV. It really got the bare minimum push. I think it going #1 and selling as much as it did (biggest sales week of the year at the time of release) gave her the confidence to push Red TV which blew past all of her expectations for what these releases could do. I fear she didn't want to put too much of an effort into these at first to save face in case they didn't do super well.

 

That being said, Fearless was kind of the perfect choice to dip her toes in with the re-recordings project. It has enough notoriety (and nostalgia) to carry itself without a huge promotional push but it's not regarded with the same level of esteem as Red or 1989 have so it wouldn't have been a huge waste to test the waters with.

 

If she knew how much of smash these could have been she could have easily had a top 5 hit (or a quick #1 even) with Mr. Perfectly Fine had she saved it for release week with a video as well. Then The Way I Loved You could have been the I Bet You Think About Me/Bejeweled of the era with a midweek video release.  

I just watched Miss Americana and I just became an even firmer believer of Gaylor
