Whether you prefer one album or the other is subjective, but it's not insecure to point out that Madonna's benchmark at the same career stage was extraordinarily high. The argument is simply that if we're discussing artistic and commercial peaks, then the relevant comparison is 1998 Madonna versus present Gaga, even though 2026 Madonna is still debuting at #1.

Madonna was 39 when she released ROL (7th studio album) Gaga was 38 when she released MAYHEM. (7th solo studio album) Madonna is 67 now and on her 15th studio album. For BB and RIAA calculations, it's usually 1 album sale = 1250 premium streams or 3750 ad-supported streams. ROL has sold roughly 16mil so far. If ROL were released in the streaming era, it would have achieved the equivalent of 20bil premium streams or 60bil ad-supported streams. Friendly reminder that an album that sold 15-20mil copies in the CD era would need tens of billions of streams to produce the same album equivalent today. If you're gonna come for the Queen of Pop whose career spans over 5 decades, then you better scale it properly.

At least get your facts straight. The official artist credit is "Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars". It was released through Interscope, which they both are signed to if I'm correct. Just because the MV was uploaded to Gaga's YT, doesn't prove anything - it's labels that often decide which artist's channel hosts the collab. The producer of DWAS said that the song was created during Mayhem sessions after Bruno called Gaga. Multiple sources confirm that DWAS was latched onto the album last minute (including Gaga herself). Am I saying any of this is bad? No, I am not. I'm just confused at the delusion of LMs and being painted as an OGH when I've been listening to Gaga since her debut and am simply not buying her antics.
