everyone is being so bizarre. putting Katy and Taylor in the same sentence when at Katy's critical low she couldn't get anything from her current catalogue charting meanwhile tactics what have you on interest constant US Spotify #1 the entire initial week so what is it are we going to say Taylor and Katy are in their red 40 eras together or are we going to compare Taylor to theee current main pop girl whose career is ~15 years shorter and she's at the peak of her critical commercial performance tour just started 11 songs charting on hot 101 are Taylor and Olivia boat mates since they're neck and neck or is this a 143 situation? Showgirl is behind arguably everything except evermore and TTPD. and it has 3 #1s. Patient Zero did what it came to do, her public reception is at another low, swifties and non swifties alike are not happy she gave us more showgirl, and ultimately i remember there being a slew of flash in the pan drake #1s at his commercial peak. even though Taylor's reaching new lows on national popularity rankings her new releases always have that buzz. it would be a miracle in the climate where people feel about her and showgirl for this to be a hit right now. it hasn't left the top 10 after two weeks, still US top 3. that's fine. it isn't astronomical, it isn't indicative of what's to come. it's a fortnight performance for a fortnight esque song without a tour and with a hate train

It revealed itself as an instant classic, and it's only aged as the finest wines. It's more bloated than Evermore, the other album it fights with for my #1 favorite, but I think the anthology is truly deserved and really makes the entire thing more complex and devestating. The Black Dog, Chloe etc., How Did It End, I Hate It Here, The Prophecy, I Look in People's Windows... she wasn't well and she let us know it. It's her at her rawest, her most bare. I still kinda can't believe she let us get this. Timing was everying. As we see, her creative output took a dramatic turn following her love bubble, and good for her, but good for us that we got to see her at her lowest. She says so many things here that most people would take to the grave. I think the microwave vs. oven metaphor, the juxtaposition of an intense quick flame out and an agonizingly long over half decade relationship, and the fact that she puts them on equal playing field, is epic af. It was pure creative angst flowing out of her. I kinda have to pray on her downfall if we're gonna get good music unless she goes back to Evermore biblicalness again. Give us more Ivy, Tis the Damn Season, Tolerate It, Right Where you Left Mes queen... I know that girl still exists, we saw her in spades on TTPD.

impossible to narrow this down to 12 tracks but at this point if I had to: After All Versailles On Wires Blue Skies Good Fine Alright Something Tragic Never Let a Good Thing Die Amalfi Coast Motivation Near or Far Diver Hold Me to the Light Super Sage actually couldn't leave out a single one of these. all 11/10s!
