This is so devastating to hear though it's not a shock after he opened up about his severe lung problems due to decades of smoking. He was such a talented gift to film and may he rest in peace. 

I can't. I'm so devastated. I'm so grateful for his art, he's one of my favorite artists of all time. May he rest in peace 

I ran to social media hoping this was not true, devastating news. One of the biggest creatives to ever walk this earth, this man was a genius. Thankfully his art is timeless and will stay here with us forever. 

 

Maybe it's time for me to finally watch Inland Empire. Been delaying that one for ages because I'm so easily scared... It will be tough to watch it now that I know he's gone

Inland Empire is a wild ride. I had a panic attack the first time I tried to watch it because I was so scared   This is his most abstract movie but that's why I like it so much. The emotions are the most important part of it even if plot is so messed up 

2025 already sucks. RIP :( 

this is horrible. one of the most groundbreaking creators of our times. such an insane filmography he leaves behind... RIP.

No one managed to capture both the wonder of living and the uncertain, surreal and anxiety-inducing sides of life quite like him. He was one of a kind. RIP David.

Just watched Mulholland Drive this month, and I watched Blue Velvet with a friend on vacation a while ago, then the song got stuck in my head for the rest of the duration like a crazy person... alternating playing the original, movie version, and lana cover, psychosis tingz

Both of those were great though

 

And I remember watching Eraserhead strongly, but I was young... I'll get to the rest of his classics sometime.

But he will be missed.

I know he will be remembered as one the best filmakers.

But  I think it's important to point out that Twin Peaks changed television forever. He is the reason why people started taking tv shows seriously. The golden age of television wouldn't exist without his influence.

This is such a heartbreaking loss for cinema. One of the greatest to ever do it and one of my favourite directors of all time. I just wrote an entire paper about Twin Peaks for school a couple of months ago and his work has been on my mind lately so let me go watch one of his films in his honour. He was truly a groundbreaking visionary and forward thinking artist with a voice completely unique to him. May his legacy live on. RIP.

What a tragedy…

A huge, HUGE loss. RIP

 

The iconic composer of Twin Peaks Angelo Badalamenti passed away fairly recently too. The special creative bond those two shared is, again, such a massive loss to their respective fields

One of the most legendary American directors... such a sad loss. 

I'm gonna kms… he should've lived forever, a ******* legend.
