ASL?? omg where to start?? So i first heard of this way back in the day, just when the US hotel opened. I was playing on Shockwave (remember that?) on a game called InkLink. The stories I could say about that one anyway, the people i was playing with all were talking about going onto habbo after and so i wanted to join. I was way too young to be there, and I learned a lot, including my first exposure to internet slang/acronyms (lol, lmao, omg) as well as of course the ASL/cyber stuff. InkLink had a bit of that but no where near as bad ofc I remember I started as a boy character but i quickly noticed that girls were given special treatment by some other users, so i dressed as a girl. Then i learned that normies were treated as such nonentities and if you werent HC there was no point. You could never win a cozzie change, no one wanted to date you unless they were normie themselves and people were so rude to you during falling furni if you did not look cute LOL. The braids and beanie combo were popular at the time. Anyway, i used my mom's credit card and bough like $200 worth of coins and I got into SO much trouble, I had to stop playing i regret it, but I also had a lot of fun just in general being on there. It was very formative. People unironically stanned Paris Hilton at the time so there were a lot of Paris usernames. I still pop into that old account on occasion. A lot of my furni is really rare now. I even logged in just 2 weeks ago, coincidentally enough, but i found hard to find a place to talk to people. I do remember the infamous era with the trolls/hackers? When they would go into the public pool room and say the pool was closed due to AIDS? I felt like the mods NEVER did anything about it, and it took FOREVER for the issue to be addressed….
