plave aren't AI dlkjdslkfjdsklf they're virtual idols. like virtual youtubers / streamers. they're actual people behind avatars. they sing, dance(?) etc but behind an avatar to maintain anonymity. virtual youtubers are very popular in asia and somewhat in the west too actually

naevis is actually very good friends with the server farm where Jennifer gets most of her streams, they probably see each other so often that it wasn't worthy of a photo op

They were not lipsyncing. Their mics were clearly on (you could hear their breathing and outfits moving etc, WINTER's mic was even switched on way too early).

 

However, they did have a (very) loud backing track over their live vocals in this performance. There were definitely other performances on the night which sounded less live than aespa's did.

idk why but kpop performances always look so empty to me... like the stage is so empty for some reasons... aespa did great though

i need to get into jennie fr because her performances are so well produced and i heard good things about her album

 

her main pop girl potential  she needs to end my fave IU in korea

 

edit: not me getting an IU ad right after a video of a jennie performance on youtube  also i remembered how i randomly saw jennie up close at an event... last june and she was so stunning

The performance was alright, but it was obvious they were lip-syncing and lacked energy. If they're going to lip-sync, they should at least have better stage presence.

 

Aespa aren't natural performers, and that's okay, but if they actually sang live, it could help cover up the areas where they struggle with dancing and stage presence.

 

Groups like IVE are in a similar situation as Aespa, with both groups not being strong dancers. However, IVE has managed to cover up their weaknesses and connect with audiences by singing live. Aespa could do the same if SM allowed them to perform live more often, as their biggest strength is their vocals. Their choreography isn't that difficult either, so it's unclear why SM doesn't let them sing live more.
