  1. idols don't even use melon anymore. for instance, legendning uses apple music
  2. nah. i was talking about style entering the top 5 on apple music and i said "youtube music will follow soon" once the charts update style is now top 5 on the daily youtube charts which is yet another indication of the song is having success and that it will be high on the official youtube music charts however the song isn't even top 100 on melon another funny example is idle's new song. i wouldn't call it a mega smash, but i still hear it in public, it was playing in the clubs last weekend, people know the song... it's sitting in the top 50 on youtube music but it's not charting on melon same for gnarly. even lady gaga's abracadabra was a hit in korea, it charted high on youtube music (and apple music too! ) but never charted on melon. die with a smile smashed on youtube music (and literally everywhere else on earth) for weeks while not charting on melon at all. it appeared on melon way later. there's so many cases like this so YES, i don't consider melon to be reliable anymore when arguing about what's actually popular in real life with the GP because the GP is moving on from it. while it still has millions of users (despite songs having terrible uls lmfao), it's clear that its demographic and its charts doesn't represent the GP anymore so i yes, i don't understand the constant obsession with melon when songs that are actually popular in real life barely appear in the top 100 while decade old songs that aren't charting on other platforms are still hovering around the top 50 i'm also pretty sure there were many recent viral japanese songs that hit big in korea that never even charted on melon despite smashing on youtube music and other platforms
  3. girl i literally said in my first post that it was too bad spotify was filled with bts' streaming farms. their streams make ZERO sense spotify is still going to become korea's second biggest platform next year zack's graph made me realize it gained 200K more users just last month lmao
  4. you keep obsessing over the apple music comment when i only used it as a reference for the youtube music charts. it's not that difficult to understand apple music is a smaller sample of youtube music's demographic and i used it as a reference because it updates in realtime whereas youtube updates once a week melon's demographic is more fanbase driven which is why there's bts songs from last decade nearly charting in the top 50 and a bunch of plave songs my god yea the top 10 is usually aligned but the rest of the top 100 is a huge mess and songs that are actually popular and playing everywhere don't chart at all whereas they chart on youtube music (and on apple music at similar positions which is why i used it as a reference before youtube updates)
  5. style is literally in the top 5 of most viewed music videos on youtube korea right now which is identical to the apple music charts while the song is N/A on melon yall are just arguing to argue when there's literally nothing to argue to begin with skdkldsflkss
  6. i never said melon wasn't number two, i said it was dead and unpopular with the general public (which is the general public opinion in korea) and those claims are supported by the fact that it's free falling in the graph that you proved and also by the fact that the top 3 songs have 100k ULS (whereas popular songs used to have over 500K) and the rest of the top 100 is under 100k with some songs in the top 100 even having 30K uls, on top of a huge portion of the top 100 being filled with songs from even 2017~2022, trot songs and unpopular idol songs the report that you linked never stated that apple music wasn't popular, it states that its user bases is limited to mostly apple users. also it's impossible to know the number of apple music user because the service is using the default music app on apple devices and apple does not communicate its numbers. the same report states that melon is strongly linked with fandom culture, just like i stated with my own words of it being an otaku platform lmfao i don't think i even once claimed it didn't have millions of users, i said that the melon charts wasn't representative of what's actually popular in korea. i also never stated apple music was a major platform, i said that in my experience, a LOT of people are using it, and its charts is the most reflective of what's actually popular in korea and that its charts was the most similar with youtube music's charts which is why i said "youtube music will follow soon" idk how hard it is to understand lmao, youtube music's official charts only updates once a week and apple music's charts is extremely similar with it so it's a good indicator to how the youtube charts will look like. i feel like some of yall are constantly acting dense on purpose just for the thrill of it
  7. also it's impossible to know the numbers of AM users but there's still a **** tons of people using it spotify is literally destroying the market atm over 3 MILLION users in korea when it was at just 1 million last year
  8. im gonna be totally honest with yall, people who use melon in 2025 are seen as otaku losers it's a platform for otaku fans because it counts towards music shows that nobody watches. out of all of my friends there's not a single person who uses melon. half of my friends use apple music, the other half either use spotify or youtube music. my roommate switched to spotify some months ago as well. the only reason why melon still has so many users is because of kpop fanbases who use it to stream their faves, older demographics, and the fact that a month of melon subs costs 100 wons (10cents) i also wouldn't be surprised if they lied about their active users. the ULs are at an all time low rn melon is also dead in the sense of its charts barely moving. there's YEARS old songs that you never hear anywhere still charting, 30% of the charts is Lim Young Woong, then it's filled with **** like plave and other irrelevant acts, tons of ballads that nobody listens to etc... in 2025 youtube music and apple music are the two platforms the most representative of the music that is trendy in korea i don't really like gnarly but it went viral in korea, i hear it a lot everywhere, it was even played at pride etc and it's charting at #42 on AM and #58 on youtube music but... N/A on melon... melon is not accurate AT ALL
  9. when i play i'm that girl i have the urge to listen to the album until the end in order. its structure is lowkey perfect and every single song flow into each other perfectly
  10. style already top 5 on apple music in korea youtube music will follow soon. melon truly is a dead platform i don't understand why stans still use it as reference when it's not representative of what's popular anymore now if only spotify's charts wasn't dominated by bts' streaming farms it's actually gaining a lot of popularity in korea
  11. i love the songs but lorde shouldn't be releasing singles. she should just release the whole album at once like billie
  12. this whole situation is extremely weird especially with haknyeon's statement about how the company is setting him up. but what pisses me off even more is the hypocrisy of some people online about thisโ€ฆ like it's better for me to not say anything i fear
  13. i've listened to the song the other day and the lyrics are so corny and cringe i barely could listen to it till the end tbh like i understand why they keep flopping
  14. streaming points doyoung: 3072 itzy: 673
  15. doyoung ended this mess with ease
